I'm currently attempting to do a manga-style comic book. I'm currently working on what I believe is the 38th page. I started on the 5th of february. I had been trying to do this manga before, but it never worked out. This is definitely the best I've ever done.
Anyone else working on something like this?
I use charcoal, graphite, pigma micron pens, and screentone on 9x12 sketchbook paper.
I recently got into story-writing a bit
I'm trying to combine tragic conflicts with advanced technology mixed with today's technology and some ..uhm.. spaced out charas
tell us something about your story!
oh, and does "manga" imply people with small mouths and big eyes?

IceMoon - I wish I could. As I said, it's on 9X12, and my scanner won't take it. >_< I could show you a sample of the style soon-ish though. ^^
Cucaracha - Aieee! Please don't think that's all manga is. Big eyes are just a stereotype. Not every manga has them, and the mouths in Sailor Moon, for example, got quite large in comedic asides.
AngethelSayer: I've been working with manga style art for some time now - april 2003 or earlier. My endeavuers in the style previous that, though, are just too horrible to comment on.
You can put your 9X12 sheets on a camera stand made for taking slides and use a digital camera to get the pages digitized. Or you can just depend on your own stability to take the pictures...either way it works...I don't have a scanner.
There are 3 sides to every story. Yours, mine and THE TRUTH.
Keenspace defines the 'manga" style in its descriptive criteria for comics in many ways. It associates it with both a layout style and an art style. Which are you thinking of?
Both. (i'm not always good with creative layouts, though)
It's not my usual style (I don't usually use color), but it gives you an idea. Tht first one is just a sketch done in a few minutes.
