this is a creature illustration for Lost Isles, although the client only needs the lineart I decided to go a step further and try my hand at digital painting. Until now I really have only worked seriously in pencils and ink, but want to build a more painterly style into my skill base. So this is my first serious step (or stumble) into painting digitally (and unfortunately still with a mouse). I would love any feedback people can offer as far as the style, also and crits on the design of the creature would be great too.
Cool! The coloring is very nice too!
must say i find it hard to crit. you have a lot of liberty as far as anatomy and such are concerned. and i have no real idea what it's supposed to be for.
seems like a fantasy type orkish creature. he looks great, no apparent problems at frist glance. the line art looks really clean. that's cool, not sure the art would retain it's power if stripped of it's color because the line art has no shading or what so ever.
if you want a crit on the coloring, i'd have to say it's basically fine, but little original. in the sense that i can't find any YOU in there. it's just save coloring, with some shading and highlights, nothing special. no emotion, nothing. you could try putting in some feeling next time, go out on a limb more
