my first attempt to make one head.... Critics plz .... reference just to proportinon no reference used to lines and shade... hugs
another head study ... critics plz ...
Another Brasilian! Finally! My name is Ian, I'm from Sao Paulo.
Anyway, enough about me, more about you. Your sketches are coming along well. The perspectives are very good and your head studies seem very accurate. Keep working on it, Leonard.
Not a bad start, I would suggest that you draw from life and really look at the subject you are drawing. A self portrait is a good place to start (just grab a mirror). Pay attention to line weights, things that are closer to you are darker and things that are further away or disappearing are lighter (general rule).
Really look and see if proportions are correct. For instance, check the size of the eyes? Are they too big with respect to the rest of the face?
As for perspective, get a couple of small boxes and place them on a table and draw them.
I would suggest looking into Raphael's drawings. The old masters are always great to copy from.
Last note, try to move away from symbolic representation. For example, look at how carefully you drew the eye, showing the lids and roundness; yet the lips look like flat pieces of paper stuck to a face! Watch out for these pitfalls.
Just keep drawing and you'll be on your way.

well..... i buy one hogarth's book ... drawing the human head ... pretty good i studying it now .... i finishid the fun with a pencil .... and i start with head anatomy .... here some shots ...criticz .... i keep working ..... hugs...
you got some nice work going on !
If you work from Loomis (I love his approach by the way), I'd say, use the other books, they are more on your level I think, it'll be a bit harder, but you'll learn faster.
Show some more !
You are building your perspective in the wrong way... But for a start it is ok... Try to get the perspective points further, even out of the page... You'll see it is much better! And don't be afraid to use instruments to buid your drowing...
And try to do all your lines with one move... It shouldn't be an artistic line like the one in an anatomy study... It should be an an artistic line in an architectural way!
For the anatomy - try not to start with loomis - fun with a pencil, but with loomis figure drowing!
Wish you the best luck! You're in for a start!

I will back to post my studies i hope i get some feedback to get better this time
Hey Leonard, the least I can do is post at YOUR thread...but I'd like to help also.
One thing that I want to point out is the way you draw lips, theres a trick to that...it made a world of difference when I figured it out. Try drawing the lips but starting from the inside, instead of out.
Something like this:
Hope I helped,
Hey Sci-frost thanks man I really apreciate Your help .I draw the lips in the same way .... but is good your remenber me that my shadow are too ligth..
