Done for my girlfriend's christmas... it's over 30 inches tall
I'd sure take some criticism... it's been given already, but I could always make some changed for my own self, provided it doesn't take too long.

What would you suggest, as far as the colors...
I tried adding some oranges but it just seemed to muddy up the red, I was afraid of muting it too much
Edit- Whoa, 115 views and 1 reply ? Pls don't refrain from thrashing , critiquing, commenting and cursing me
its a nice painting, how about putting some lines, stripes or patterns across parts of the dress. Maybe add a belt or at least some colour variation to it, to break up the red and show off some form.
I think you've done a fine job. The light source on the girl (arms, hair etc.) seems a little off to me. If the light is coming from behind..you might want to reconsider or question the reflectives..(?) I really like the colors you've used and the girl is rendered really well. If I could get my wife to wear a dress like that!
It's really an excellent painting. The only aspect that is really throwing me off is the dress. It is not as realistic as the rest of the paiting. Try adding purple-ish shadows, and maybe slightly sharpen the edges of the folds and what not
looks great.. awesome colors and mood. however, a few elements in the painting seem to be made of jelly. maybe this is a stylistic choice; in that case, since it's a big element in the painting, at least make the edges of her dress a little sharper, the folds around the gathering a little tighter to make the fabric of the dress look a little thinner, more flowy and rrromantico
yeh add deeper shadows with cooler colors. Like purplish blue. And make the fabric of the dress look thinner, cuz right now it looks like she has 1 inch of dress on her. So I think what would help most is give sharper edges to the folds where they touch the ground, and add sharper edges to the shadow under her breasts
The leftmost eyebrow and lower lip seem like they should be shifted just a hair to the right.
Other than that, I think it looks great.
Thanks for all the crits guys
here's the updated, taking the crits into consideration...
Well done! I like the addition of spots on the dress. I also like like the addition of various skin tones you've added. The plant looks fantastic.
While I love this piece and the dots are brilliant, some of them are actually flattening the figure due to the roundness they have where they should be more oval, defining the curves around the body.
Good point. Now that I've looked further, Some of the black in the dots maybe too black near the highlights and should be questioned further. Who knows, the black stripe under the arm is a stripe in the dress, or is it shadow? I should really get back to work let the pros do the critiquing.Originally Posted by dogfoodWhile I love this piece and the dots are brilliant, some of them are actually flattening the figure due to the roundness they have where they should be more oval, defining the curves around the body.

The black thing under the arm is a strip... on this last pic I looked up reference and found a dress that had the spots with the strip, so I decided to use it. Is it confusing?
Also, which dots do you think are out of perpspective, I'd appreciate some help on that, as I though I made them oval towards the edges. I also lightened them under the light, but obviously not enough, hehehe, so I'll touch that up!! thanks guys!
Really nice work. I like the hand the best.
I think you might want to add another stripe maybe? The dots made her really jump out of the painting.
