Illustration in Australia
Hi all,
i am currently in the process of looking for an Art College in Australia that has courses in Illustration much like the one they have at Ringling, Art Center of Design and others around America. To my disbelief I have not been able to locate any at all. i have even sent numerous emails to Art Colleges and Universities and either get no reply or they say no dont have any courses. i find it unbeleivable to believe that in Australia there isnt any. So the question i am asking is...does anyone know if this is the case because i would love to be proven wrong as i really want to study Illustration. When I visited Brisbane last month, I drove by Queensland College or something.. They seemed like they were in a excellent location for art.. and everything i heard about that place sounded excellent.. I beleive they have 5 campuses.. You should give them a look see... I dunno you are from there.. prolly have a better grasp of the area, and have heard of em...
EDIT: did some research it was Griffith University.. link: Griffith hope I could help peace. ANohter edit: I checked there classes that they offer.. THEY HAVE TONS! Go to this link: http://www.gu.edu.au/ua/aa/pas/STIP/...j_crslist.html then go to Visual arts and crafts and do a search for classes set all the other tabs to all.. they have life drawing painting.. sculpture..Tons of stuff.. I reccomend you go and check them out if you haven't... I guess I was near the one in South Bank... good luck.

Thanks Deth Jester,
just browsing through it now...there is alot to get through. Funny thing is i have spoken to alot industry artists and they say the art colleges in Queensland are not what they used to be. Being in the game industry for a number of years now i have meet alot of artists with different views on the subject. i have also noticed that their isnt alot of artists here with traditional art skills soley being 3d artists. Not like in America where they take concept art seriously. Being a 2d artist myself i find that it urges me to increase my art skills to new levels. |
