Thanks man, I appreciate that! We should do some sort of collabo one of these days. Or battle thunderdome style. Robo-jetpack lizardmen versus the slime king? Whaddaya say?
stuff mirrored above, so I edited this one out. It seemed redundant...

Hah! No freebies, sorry. Generally speaking the "free" time we freelancers have is spent digging up paying work. Tracking down clients can be a full time gig plus some...good luck finding someone though.
Same with this. It is tedious, but has to be done.
Just came off a project, and interested in new projects. Give me a buzz if you need some art!

um, I don't really do any programming anymore, but I'll help as much as I can... I built something that is intended to let me draw and paint as fast as possible. For me that means dual processors and a heckuva lot of ram. I spend all my time in photoshop though, a coder really doesn't need that extra processor although it might still be nice to have as it will shorten compile times by 30% or more. On second thought, you might want to have at the least a dual-core processor as many games in the coming generation will be multi-threaded and you might want to get used to writing code for that.
A good resource is the ArsTechnica System Guide. If you want a more informed opinion register and post in those forums, I know there are several people there who program in the industry.
One thing I can tell you for sure, invest in dual monitors, preferably LCDs (much easier on your eyes). That way you can have your compiler windows up on one screen and code on the other, trust me, it saves you HOURS a day. Dell makes good ones and has 20% off sales for them often.
Hope this helps,
