The swamp critters are a nice deviation from the usual environments, although, Popke #21 is absolutely one of your best. As was said, teh beavar and the heron-ish bird read flat but I'd also like to add that the neck on the heron is too fragile-looking. I know you were going for that distinctive curve of the neck, just behind the head, but it looks like I could break that bird's neck like a hotdog.
The sunfish though; clearly, you love your water creatures. You have an intrigiguing, opposite pallette at work here but it's all very unified and the textures you've defined on the fish, particularly around the head, are beautiful. I'm not TOTALLY sold on the dot matrix pattern of the scales... yet oddly, it's not pissing me off nearly as much as that stuff usually does. Would be nice to see some more defined scales though, some catching a few highlights, since the more opague strokes are dulling your fish's body in some places.
With the frogs... heh. Heh heh. Heh. Sac. Now that I see this on my lappy's monitor and not the poopy ones at work, your pallette is a good mix of reds and greens; I also like the quick BG. I wanna see that sunlight hit the frogs though... and nice work with the bold stroke of white onthe peeper's sac.
...you're good at stroking sacs.
And yeah. Enormous crit. I just woke up and my mind is working overtime from the weird-ass dreams I had all night.
