Digesting a scene from life..
I walked a good 6 miles today to draw for a whole 10 minutes. It was worth it though as it made me ask a lot of new questions to myself.
You'll notice lack of values and rendering in this. I just wanted to keep it simple and try to observe my surroundings more than make it a tonal study. The goal was mostly to keep things in proportion in relation to what I was seeing.
I came across the problem of to many things to observe though! I restricted myself to observing within the limits of my picture plane, but even still, I had a hard time not getting lost in the sizes and shapes of the rocks, the way the water was reflecting things, and the grassy bush in the middle. It all became very daunting and disorienting.
So does anyone have any suggestions on digesting a scene, like specific things to look for first when starting out?
