Hey you talented art type people out there. I'm a 17 year old guy trying to get a hold of all this "drawing" stuff. I've started out this thread as an incentive for me to draw every day, and to get some crits from said "talented art type people". Anyway:
Some life drawing (as I'm lucky enough to be able to have acess to a live model via a local art store):
Just some warm ups- I like how they turned out.
Charcole (the images are bigger: I could only get a bit of each pic due to my small scanner):
Random African dude. Was fun to draw.
Some older stuff:
Guy I did for a game I'm working on with some buds.
And I think thats all for now. Any crits?

Keep going with life studies. Very helpful. Other than that i really like the monkeys...
Can't wait to see some mor'
I know it's all been done before, I want to do it again. I want to do it again.
Well, this is more of a semi-weekly sketch book, but hopefully I'll be able to get a real sketchbook going now that I have more time off.
Heres 2 doodles that I drew today-
I'm begining to get a hang on anatomy, but I need to force myself to sit down and do some serious study. So, any crits?
EDIT: Oh, hey, thanks for your reply Kasper. Yeah, I'll keep doing anatomy stuff and life-drawing (and monkeys), no worrys. Thanks for your comments.

I love this african dude and the soldier beneath
But you have to work more on your proportions additional to some anatomic studies the one cant exist wthout the other
Must... draw... more....
Here are a few drawings that I liked:
A wierd marine type guy- spent 10 seconds on the gun.
I love wierd dress uniforms- i think I'm going to continue to draw pictures like this one. I need to watch my porportions though- they're way skrewy here (nod to corky13, thanks for that coment). And on the last sketch too, but I guess i'll need to practice.
EDIT: Before anyone asks: yes, I did skrew around with the burn tool in PS on this sketch.
Anyway, I really need to work on antaomy, but I'm so damned lazy...
EDIT: Well, hey, I drew some skullz(with a z)!

hey i checked out your work. i really like some of the exagerations you have in your sketches. the one of a davey crocket looking guy is my favorite. Anatomy is a really good thing to start understanding. If you have a good working logic of it you can do almost anything. Check out metalwinds sketchbook sometime. the guy puts a lot of effort into his studies. I will start posting some of my anatomy drawings and sketches soon too. keep up the work and drop by the sketchbook sometime.
Oh and if you start posting comments in other peoples sketchbooks they usually drop by yours to drop a line or two. Keep up the good work, and i like the figure drawings!
rollb82 Thanks for the tips- I'll be sure to post in other peoples sketch books. I'll be sure to drop by in your sketchbook from time to time as well.
Anyway, I did some sketches that are NOT of people for once, which is a bit of a change for me. I actually drew a lot more then just this today, but nothing else was worth posting.
So: hereís a weird creature: he sits on top of water and uses his big arms to propel himself around. I liked the way he turned out, so I'll elaborate more on him later in other sketches. You'll notice the big harness on him, which I'll explain in the third sketch.
And here's a ship. Not all that happy with how it turned out, but its not too bad.
Ok, so here's the full concept, photoshoped together:
The idea I had was this: that the big creature was domesticated as a means of transport in a world that is covered in water save for small islands (like those books about "Earthsea", whose names I forgot ("A Wizard of Earthsea"?)). Anyway, Thatís about all I have today. I'll probably draw a bunch of islands and such next, this is fun as hell. Heh, I'm such a geek.
And draw some anatomy.
EDIT Just to apologize for a run on sentence or too. I tried to fix it but I was too lazy.

arghmisfit Thanks man.
So, just some random stuff:
(I know, the pose is bizzare.)
(I liked this guys head, which is why its my avatar now. I want hair like that. )
Yeah. Too much doom 3, too little drawing.

Jokisalo Yeah, you're right about the refs. I need to (or should) do a lot of life/ref stuff, but I never do.
Anyway, more crap.
Running monkey with bonus guy at the top.
Just fiddling with painting in photoshop. Nothing special...
So thats all I have. I need to start drawing more, this is just sad....
hey dude your not sad, keep practicing and you will always get better, unless you are me. i always stay the same when it comes to painting. the photoshop painting wasn't that bad at all. are you using a mouse or wacom?
keep it up.
I'm using a mouse. I have a crappy AipTec pen, but it snaped in half and jumps all over the screen now. But thanks for the comment, I think my problem is mainly the lack of practice and drawing I have (must... draw... more...)Originally Posted by rollb82hey dude your not sad, keep practicing and you will always get better, unless you are me. i always stay the same when it comes to painting. the photoshop painting wasn't that bad at all. are you using a mouse or wacom?

And I'm pretty sure that this:
Is bullshit. From what I've seen (in your sketchbook), you seem to be doing pretty well.Originally Posted by rollb82hey dude your not sad, keep practicing and you will always get better, unless you are me.
Anyway, thanks, and I'll keep drawing.

I'm not sure what that fellow is planning to do with that Stun Rod, but he sure looks up to no good to me!
Cool start to your sketchthread, Wart! Like the monster pulling the boat, looks like something out of ancient mythological China. Nice!
Keep drawing and posting...love the designs...go go go!
I'll keep watching!~~~JadeDragon
Well, school is getting in the way of any art I have tryed to do, so not too much today. Here's a wip of a project I'm thinking about working on:
As it is still kinda hard to tell what it is, its a person wearing a jumpsuit and helment. I'll work on it, and soon things will make more sense. I hope.
Basic idea: In a massive city of the future, where buildings rise miles into the sky, an illegal sport is played. It is called "Jumping", and it involves climbing to the tallest tower and jumping off it. The contestants must weave their way through flying traffic and evade the pursuing police robots who have worked in vain to stop the dangerous sport. In the final steps of the "Jump", the Jumper must latch themselves onto a steel cable placed beforehand with pinpoint percision and use its friction to slow themselves down. No parachutes or anti-grav devices are alowed, just skill and the homing becon on top of the cable.
Sounds like fun eh? Anyway, I'll finish the Jumper and work on some other concepts for my little thingie here, and maybe even attempt to create a 3d animation (although not untill I get some more skill in that area).
Any crits on my photoshop painting job, by the way? I think I'm sorta starting to get the hang of it, but any help/advice would rock.
If you keep at it you keep at it at the pace you are going you should land yourself somewhere before drinking age.
check my stuff out at www.digitaleyesoar.com/
Woah... I haven't replyed to this thread in months and months. Well, thanks for reserecting it, I guess I should post something, eh?
A little something I did from reference with my new Intuos tablet (god Wacom rocks):
So yeah. I'll attempt to keep this place updated from here on out.
