Hey all just filling in for the time being so.... donalfall should be back soon he is having technical difficulties. but will be back to finish polling for 72! thanks for your patience.
P.O.W! Challenge 73
Topic 73A The return of.....
Topic 73b Dreams...
In all P.O.W.! Challenges, you can interpret the art any way you wish, and the more creatively, the better. Any media. B&W or Color, unless we specifically point out otherwise.
Topic 73A: interperate the topic however you wish. it could be that menacing kid from next door. or that true love you that you where destined for but slipped the cracks of time. a lost shoe
Topic 73B: dreams we all have them...
One or Both-Deadline: Sunday, November 24th, 2013, 11:59 pm anywhere in the world.
You can present your solution as a minimum of TWO pages to any practical maximum you wish. Previously, we encouraged standard comic book pages, but it's beyond time to broaden the challenge in P.O.W.! Your pages can be any format, but make sure they line up to the same specs for each page.
Standard comic specs are below...and, yes, you can have the first or last (or both) as a splash page if you want--just don't get TOO extreme on page counts.
REMEMBER: You don't have to have a complete comic to qualify for polling--if you realize you're running out of time, try to get at least TWO pages finished by the deadline. That's all you need to qualify for polling..
Standard Comic Book Size:
--Trim size: 6 5/8" x 10 1/4"
--Live art area: 6" x 9"
--Bleed size before trimming: 6 7/8" x 10 1/2" (1/8" in all directions)
To all of you who have supported the P.O.W.! Challenges, from the bottom of my heart I thank you. Cheers you guys. P.O.W.! People are the best people.
Just a reminder--those of you who didn't get a chance to finish exactly the way you wanted to, or ran into deadline problems, remember there is a sticky section where you can post your stuff when you do get it up to speed.

hey great panels nickybeats.... you know i remember when ninja's where big in film now its all CGI alien monsters. So definetly please more ninja's!!!
looking great, nickybeats!
j.s. sabastian, thank you for filling in the gap!
i might have some story ideas...
thanks nickybeats great work!!!!
thanks for your support ex-machina hope to see some panels too
once i free up some time i'd like to take a shot at it as well!!!!
well i started right of with pencils, heres the first panel of the first page. Have done much of a script or similar yet, but the story is nearly set in my mind.
I want to ink it, and then color it on the copmuter (if i have the time! Nothing is guaranteed!! ), any tips?
BHDH, would be great to see something!
Nice starting panel. The house seems somewhat skewed to the left, but judging from the state it's in, maybe that's to be expected.
question: Does the comic have to be named after the theme?
I've come up with a comic that I think follows the theme, but I'd like to call it something else.
(In character design/ page thumbnails stage)
@nickybeats SAAAAAWWWWEEEEAAATTT!!!! snick snick!
@BHDH the panels pages themselves usaully involve the challenge number and title (and your name) on the bottom. But as you don't necessarily need a cover... unless we do a cover challenge. it's irelavent. But if you want to make a cover go nuts! hope that helps
@ex-machina i really love that illustration great start!
uh-oh, deadline's coming...
thanks everybody, nickybeats ilove that face on the last panel!! its great!
here's my status: Story scripted, first page penciled, page thumbnails drawn, charactersheet drawn (kind of^^)
i hope i can at least pencil every page... (i could use an extension of the deadline, j.s.sabastian^^)
@ex-machina let's make it Dec 1st if no one has any objections and i'll try and get a hold of donalfall too see what's up with polling-
dec the first sounds great
here's panel 1 of page 2
NickyBeats: lively art + ninjas and/or Wolverine = awesome
ex-machina: your backgrounds look really impressive
I wanted to take part in POW for so many times, but was always late. Many thanks for moving the deadline!
So far i managed three pages, but there is still a bit to go, before any returning happens(does it actually qualify?).
uhh.. and sorry for rudimentary backgrounds (and possibly poor English).
I will try to make some more pages before 1.12.
thanks for the kind words guys! you guys rock
Kabewu - nice!! nice job getting a good balance of blacks in there! good panels too, I like pages that have really broken up panels, not the funny strip style, all lined up perfectly... I like these a lot man!
ex-machine - haha everytime I type your name it auto corrects it to say machine... oh well... anyways, great panels so far! nice amount of detail in them! cant wait to see the final product!
3 pages to go. 2 at the very least to somewhat wrap up the returning topic... considering my pace so far- i won't make it on time ha ha
NickyBeats: Thanks I've read some tutorials on paneling before starting, i'm happy to know it has paid off. Although i get the feeling, that it's still getting messy at places.
Oh, and i really do like your theme selection. For a week the only idea i had for "return" was "tax return". Made me feel really old hehe
Due to unforeseeable events in the last week i sadly cound't find the energy to finish my comic. i'm sorry.
kabewu: great turn of the story and a nice cliffhanger at the temporarly end
also great black and white work, your faces are top!
ex-machina: those nasty unforeseeable events! i know these guys - real bastards. It's a pity that they struck again, your sketches looked very promising.
Thanks for the uplifting comment, especially about the story. It means a lot
i managed one more page.
And since it's still yesterday in some time zones, i'll try to whip up at least a sketch for the scene's last page.
(in the script, i had a scene (either 1st or 4th page) with that suicidal guy jumping into the ocean. I figured it was too much work and too little time for including something so obvious just for mood's sake... now i think i was wrong :/ )
ok, here's the sketch. super messy! >,<

Guys guys guys - I'm back online. My cable box provided by my ISP has been broken for an age, and when they say "we're coming to fix it soon" they mean 6 - 8 weeks. HUGE thanks to j.s.sabastian for keeping the dream alive - I know you were busy man, and it was a huge help to know that the POW! was up and running.
Poll for this POW! in the next little while, and new topics asap.
