I'm a C/C++ programmer with 3 years of work experience wanting to partner with a 2D artist with compatible styles. I think creating a short game would be good for our portfolio as well as see if we work well together.
I wrote my own cross-platform game engine that should work well with hand-painted assets for Windows, Linux, and any device that supports C++, which includes iPhone and Android. I created a prototype game with assets that I created using Painter to show what can be done, but not necessarily the style of game that we create.
Here's a Windows shoot'em-up prototype with controls in readme file:

I hope to find someone that also likes to play video games so we can both give creative input in designing our game. I'll try to describe my style as best as I can. Small games often suit a colorful and cute style, but darker and more serious tones are usually fine with me as long as the art style remains family-friendly, meaning children wouldn't mind watching or even playing it. Games I've played that probably influence me are: Bioware games, Valve games, DOTA, Street Fighter, Mega Man, Assassins Creed, Golden Axe, WoW, and Skyrim.
Thanks for your time. Please email email@example.com if interested.
