Recent Nudes and Siamese Foetal Skulls - LLEWELLYN

hey guys,

made it back from amsterdam okay. can't quite remember my name--which means i had fun. i spent a lot of time at the vrolik museum painting siamese twins and severed heads from life, which i'll post in the next few weeks. here are a few new drawings and by thursday of next week www.kevart.com will be updated with about 25 new images. a lot of the amsterdam series is still in process so check back soon. questions/comments welcome and respected.

thanks,

kev

this is a recent drawing of my girlfriend, lalena. alex alvarez, director of gnomon just acquired this drawing and also a painting of a skull lined with crimson peacock feathers from amsterdam which i'll post next week.

this is a detail of a work in progress of death feeding his children. same model from madonna's commission.

this is a commission i painted last week for trent reznor's producer in london. 8 x 10". i found this hundred year old frame in amsterdam and repainted it and scratched it to feel antique. to get the black stripes i drew on a white rose with a black sharpie. taped each petal onto a skull in my studio to get it right. painted from life.

enjoy!

did i mention that your work has a totally unique demonic quality?

at times it´s got some paul booth like feel but a totally different look.

more delicate, pure, and less forced. more mature.

edit: lol i was writing this before you posted the other drawing, and kinda feel approved now

I noticed you said you painted the fetus/rose from life. Where the hell did you manage to acquire a fetus skull? I want one!

ahh... this is really the perfect drug

Nice to see you back from Amsterdam.
Watching you work at the workshop made really want to get back to traditional art. Before Amsterdam I was so busy trying to come up with cool concepts and stuff for my portfolio, that I'd lost my real passion. Now, I'm doing a lot oils again and traditional art. Doing nudes of my gf, portraits of people and just regular art. Only doing concept stuff when I really feel like it.

Thanks dude.

very very nice work kev. cant tell you how long ive been waiting for an update. i am very impressed with all of the drawings particularly the one of death, cant wait to see that whole piece. the painting is also very nice, i think the fram adds a lot to the overall presence of the piece. its really creepy to find reference like that of the siamese twins and stuff but must make for great drawing, and it must be just as nice to have a beautiful girlfriend. I was wondering if maybe you could explain your drawing process, your finished pieces have a really nice quality to them and i was wondering how you approached a drawing and what kind of materials you use. the more i look at your work the more i wonder these things. thanks again and keep up the amazing work.

wow, your pencil technique is top notch. I'd really be interested to see how you go about those drawings (like the one of your girl, or death). Great work, good to see you posting again. Thanks.

Your observational skills amaze me... not to mention your amazing rendering technique!!

Every single artwork you create I just love. You even explore strange things like siamese twins and such, you are always pushing the limits and learning.

Keep at it dude, I see that you will only get better and better!

Yea, please describe how you do to draw a piece!

I already replied, but I must say, they have the look of something medieval about them. Very nice. I like the writing on the last baby one, whatever it is, it kind of fits in. Like the page from a mad scientist's book.

OK wait...how fucking bad ass is that last painting on the first post? Who here doesn't want to go out, right fucking now, buy an old ass frame, and paint a fucking skull? Jesus christ...sorry for all the explicatives, but it's so simple, yet so beautiful. Mind you, I have a thing for gothic art (gothic in the modern sense, not in the architectural sense), and god damn if that don't just make me want to redecorate my whole damn house.

God, I hate to be a "fan boy," but screw it. I'm entitled every once in a while, right?
