Hi everyone. I'm new here.
I have been hesitant to make a sketchbook on here but I was convinced after watching a youtube video from the artist Sinix that this is a good environment to submit your work for critique and improve as an artist.
Background: I'm 24. I started doing art at 20 and quit after a short while only to pick it up again at 22. Since then I've been doing it off and on but I've been wanting to take it more seriously. I go to a University where I study history but I am able to take art electives. I'll be graduating in Spring and I want to continue go to Pasadena Art Center for Entertainment Design. I wanted to apply this February but I just didn't feel like I was ready so hopefully I'll be applying in October of this year. Until then, I want to take this year to buckle down and really improve my art and prepare my portfolio. I am weak at doing vehicles and environments so I will try and focus on doing those things. I want to try and submit sketches everyday.
Some Life Drawing stuff from over Summer 2012.
A caricature portrait I did for a beginning oil painting class last year.
I think I am figuring out the correct sizes for this website. Apologies for all the large images. Here is an idea for an alien race that I had. They are kind of a combination of a bat, a gorilla, and a tree frog. They are herbivores that are adept at climbing. I'm going to try and revolve my portfolio around a theme and so all the environments, vehicles, props, and characters will be related to these creatures.
