try using brushes at a lower opacity to get that smooth transition. still, i like the hatched shading ones . if you do that hatched shading with a bigger sized brush, you could get an 'oil painting' strokes feel
Digital is still crazy for me, I hope I'll get used to it soon.
Are you utilizing shape dynamics and transfer on your brush settings? If not give it a shot, they'll help a lot.
Go into the brush panel and look for shape dynamics. Turn shape dynamics on and set size jitter to 'pen pressure' and set the minimum size to 50-70 percent, depending on your preference. Then go to transfer and set opacity jitter to 'pen pressure' and set the minimum opacity to 50 percent.
That should make your brush a little easier to use. Good results so far though, keep it up!
Thanks for the hint Pavlov, but I'm afraid my cheap tablet does not know what pen pressure is ; )
Again moving on. This time my shot on some environment. I can feel perspective study comming soon.
turns out perspective in funnier than I thought
I just flipped through your sketchbook from start to finish. Wow, such progress in such a short time! That's great. It's great you are looking at Bridgeman and Villpu. We have some huge Bridgeman originals where I work. Stunning. It is very encouraging to watch a young artist embark on the lessons that they should be studying. In addition to the copies, one thing I would suggest is get out there and observe. Drawing people in school, in Starbucks, in the mall, wherever in public. Don't worry too much about getting into lengthy details. Do gestures of their body position, their weight balance, body proportions, the large masses, etc. Adopt what you are learning from Bridgeman, Villpu and others, and incorporate that in your own practice. And you are practicing a lot! That is so cool!
perspective its what will take your figures and landscapes to the next level, learn to use it efficently and have it in the back on your mind at all times when drawing anything, this is what gives volume and depth to your work, keep it up man try be less stiff you are alot more loose that when you started but i still see you use too many straight lines and that gives it that stiffness, play with the balance of curves and straights this play of opposites happens alot with art, light vs dark, empty space vs occupied space, and most specially with composition as you studied previously, i think if you focus in perspective for at least 2 weeks you can bump your drawing skills significantly keep it up!
Yo Sleep.less, glad you like it.
Thanks Michael@Lyme, I will!
Hey lionheartGFX I haven't noticed it before but you are right. Straight strokes seem to dominate my stuff ; )
Today, some unintentionally oversized traffic lights.
some more doodles and a cute tank
its good that you are trying to learn perspective
I would recommend working with pencil as much as digital so you can built up cordination and line quality.
Yeah GrayPersona, my line control kinda sucks right now ; ) I think I'll dedicate some trainings entirely to improve my lines.
And at the time my columns are done.
planning my next pic
thanks Betty86, I will ; )
Liking how you rendered this golem. The nose, mouth and chin are kinda off and flatten the face. The eyes follow the plane of the face. You need to incline the nose, mouth and chin to the direction of the eyes to establish the main plane of the face clearly.
Also, the ear is a tad too big, but maybe that's how he was built.
Wow Sleep.less thanks! I haven't noticed it, but you are right. His lips looks like he's almost facing front. I must pay more attention next time.
another golem WIP
nice studies mate,i noticed that in you head and figure studies the figures are not related to the horizon-
the human body is the same as blocks and cylinders if you want to represent them accurately you have to at least have the horizon in mind if not actually drawn out.
Hah! I've never thought about it this way. I'll have to pay more attention to this. Thanks.
At the time I'm getting close to the lighting I want on my golem, but relation chest/limbs is still a bit off.
my golem is done.
I see I need a lot of human form study.
Two 30min quicks. And one subtly censored form study.
