Thanks so much guys! Sure feels nice to come back here after all the down time =)
Here's the final for the ship from the last page:
Haven't done anything traditional in colour for way to long, so here goe a few colour-sketches:
Watercolour on paper.
Lovely work, your competence spanning a multitude of media is fantastic.
Thanks JTBurby and Eliza!
A few more watercolour/gouache- the medium isn't quite doing what I want it to do yet...
Thumbnail in oil (about 7cm wide) and digital speed painting based on it
Thanks TNiznet and Morningtea for your kind words! =)
Here's the final on the city piece and all the others that belong to that project (which is- at least for the time being- finished):
Oh wow, the forums are bakc up... again. Hope there'll be no further down-times.
Here's the work I did in the interim, some commissioned, some personal:
Rene, your stuff is incredible! Just unbelievable. Would love to see some progress shots of your envoirns.
I'm a peacock, you gotta let me fly!
Thanks to V3T and TNiznet =)
Here are three rough speedpaintings I did as a break from studying (I've got an important exam coming up):
Can't stress enough how inspiring your work is for me Rene. Currently using your sketchbook as role model as I may be taking a year out of work (as professional 3D artist no less) to learn concept art. Going through the 13 pages makes me giddy to get going!
Also thanks for introducing me to Mucha (embarrassing I wasn't familiar with him)!
Are you planning to do any new vids soon?

Hi. Thanks for entering the environment of the week, otherwise I'd not have seen your work. Easily five stars, exceptional work, you have such solid knowledge and your images are very polished and appealing. I think your youtube videos are some of the best tutorials I have seen, believe me, I've seen a lot! Anyway, I'll be studying them for awhile, until I grasp the basics. Take care.
Your enviro's are so gorgeous! I particularly like the monotone ones.

Thanks everyone for your kind words.
To tell you the truth, I have been kind of frustrated with ca for a while, seeing as some of my pages in this SB went missing and haven't returned. But I guess I'll just put the work I did during the interim in this mega-post. If you'd like to get updates soon (including eketches and such), have a look at my page at FB (see signature).
So here goes:
(my new cintiq- just had to buy one. I'll be broke for some time now )
(my new portable life painting setup with an intuos 5m)
Nice Sketchbook! I really like you environments, nice colors. keep it going!
