Hello there talented conceptartist's and animators around here,
i'm Barbu and i represent a small new animation studio that's going to rock the world...hopefully . So in order to do that and other rocking related stuff we would like to know if there's anyone who can tell us something about the Toon Boom's Harmony software which we want to aquire...we would love an objective opinion of course. If you have experience with it please tell us if it's worth the time and money... we understand that it's kind of the leader in 2D (and 3D integrated) animation software.
I'll admit up front that I'm bias - I think harmony is the best 2D animation software out there. So much so that I've chosen to work in it exclusively. I avoid flash like the plague!
I've worked at a number of different studios, ranging from a bunch of interns in a basement, on a band-aid budget to a place with 200+ employees. & I've held a bunch of different positions, breaker, animator, compositor, FX, technical consultant & fixer of all the things animators like to break. >.<
It does have a bit of a steep learning curve over flash- but it's far more animation friendly in the long run. Ideally you'll want at least one person with a solid lump of experience, just because it can be a bit of a technical diva.
Some shows I know are done in toonboom are, Toot & puddle, Grossology, Detentionare, Sixteen, Wild Kratts, Sidekick, & Ruby Gloom.
The other big name is flash- and it's cheaper, easier to find people who know the program, or have worked in it- but I find it cumbersome and painful to work in.
