what I love about drawing is that once I map out the basic structure and design of the drawing in my mind I can listen to all kinds of stuff, while drawing, and fully appreciate what I'm listening to. I like NPR, my audiobook collection (the contents of which I've listened to so many times I've virtually memorized each one and can lip-sync the words...), and I find Rammstein particularly inspiring when I want to do something badass.
do other people share this habit? if so what do you listen to while creating art?
Seattle's hottest music
I self-published a book on the fundamentals of drawing from life.
~3000 songs on my playlist at the moment.
Recently, I've been playing Comedy Central Presents and Celebrity Jeopardy videos in the background. It's nice a break from music and it keeps my brain active.
Joy Division, The Nerve Agents, A.F.I., Yeah Yeah Yeahs, and the such.

I like the courses from the Teaching Company. When I'm working full out I can burn through even the longest ones in a few days. They're expensive, but most big library systems have them.

I grew up on urban music, I use to listen to rap alot in high school, but it's all about R&B now. I listen/sing to Ginuwine, Usher, Mario Winans, Craig David, Babyface, some new, some old schools while I'm paper jammin' my artwork. Sometimes a lyric comes up to where I have to drop my pencil just to hit a perfect note on some of the songs.
I also listen to tracks that has a phat beat.
