I'm new here and I would like to get some critique for my environments. These are illustrations for Italo Calvino book "Invisible Cities".
You need to work on perspective and most of these pieces look chalky and washed-out.
As the ego shrinks, so the spirit expands.
Ha! These are awesome!! I really like the first, the third, and the sixth.
It looks like you're going for atmospheric perspective. I think what would help with that is bumping up some saturation and contrast to objects in the foreground more, and sharpening the edges more. In general, you are doing that, I think you could kick it up a few notches though. I really want to see some darkest darks on the buildings in the sixth one.
I'm really curious to see what you do if you did this traditionally in only black and white...no greys, just white and black ink, unmixed!! I think if you did that you would understand darks and lights more.
Keep going, these are exciting, I can't wait to see more.
