Hi, I'd really appreciate some help. I haven't been painting long, and I find I've been having a lot of trouble, (especially) with the head, wings and the lighting of this piece. I'd great appreciate any tips or tricks you wouldn't mind sharing as well, thank you!

I really like the head of this, very creepy and catching. Something very real about it. Your wings definitely need work, the right one looks all messed up. I can't offer a lot of advice cause I sux, but, definitely a cool concept
Have you gathered some reference? There are tons of images of bats flying that should solve your issues with the wings rather quickly. The same goes for bird talons. Finding the right reference for the human anatomy might be more difficult, but is equally needed. Depending on your build, it might be easier to simply pose in a mirror.
The success of this drawing relies heavily on bringing these elements together, so do the research and don't rush into rendering. Once you've wrapped you head around this thing's anatomy, Sneak's link is exactly what you need to be looking at for lighting. Also, if you were planning on placing this creature in an environment, work that out in some thumbnails before you move forward.
