Hi Concept art,
I haven't posted here for some time (actually nearly two years). I've been trying to develop my style and skills further after very useful feedback on MADE symposium. Here is a selection of my more recent stuff.
It is illustrations I made for: Paizo, Blizzard, few fan arts (Hulk, Darkness inspired knight) and illustrations I made for fantasy books.
Thanks for your interest!

I recognize some of the characters from the Pathfinder RPG, one of my favorite tabletops. Well done, man. Looks great.
So, it has come to this.
Beautiful color work.
Thanks guys! I'm glad you like it.
Here is something fresh.I found some free time to take part in the D&D Art Test (http://www.wizards.com/dnd/Feature.a...ure/dndarttest)
I love the fact how easy you can switch between different styles.
D&D's are top; I know how demanding are those. 5 stars.
How long does it take for a big ones (first 3) ?
Thanks a lot man!
The first 3 are the most complex illustrations I've done so far. I'm always trying to make those within a week, but these took longer as I'm tryng new things etc. Maybe something like 8 days, don't know exactly as I'm usually working on more things at the same time.
I think your style fits perfect for D&D world. I was studying you paintings today and I realized that you successfully managed to translate complexity of Wayne Reynolds drawings into the digital paint, something I was struggling with a lot.
Do you work from a greyscale painted shapes, or you go with a linework and color? Do you have a sketches for any of these pieces that you can share, I have a feeling you can help me solve some of my problems while working on mass scenes:
1.If I start drawing , it's taking too long
2.if I start from a paint it's never well defined.
josic: I'm glad you think so.
I've had the same issues when approaching complex paintings. Line sketch never works without problems for me, I rather work with shapes from the start. On multiple character paintings I like to work in more layers, I discovered it works better for me. Here some of my process pics (it should be pretty self explanatory): http://michalivan.blogspot.com/
here is a drawing I did yesterday it's different than my usual stuff, but was a lot of fun. Inks colored in Photoshop (and yes I'm a big Mignola fan )
hey, thanks, that helps a lot! Now I can see what I was doing wrong. It's necessary to start with clean flat shapes in mass scenes, I think it's the right approach,
This color flash into my eyes
ENTERTAINMENT DESIGN & CONCEPT ART
Thanks for the nice comments!
Here is one new illustration I did recently.
It's a cover for a facebook game Emporea2 (http://www.facebook.com/emporea2)
I also did a small blog about how I created the image: http://michalivan.blogspot.com/2012/...a-2-cover.html
woowww ,amazing work man!!
I LOVE the action and the perspective work!!! Kind of a little envious *sniffle* Keep posting!! I'll be looking out for you -_-
Like the artistic descendant of Brad Rigney and Wayne Reynolds
Some really spectacular stuff even if the WoW aesthetic isn't my favourite.
CRITIQUE AS YOU WOULD BE CRITIQUED
THE ABOVE LINK IS ALL YOU NEED

Thank you guys! I very much apprecitate the nice comments.
Mordus: I'm a big fan of Brad Rigney and Wayne Reynolds. I'm happy if you can see them a bit in my work
BlazeF: Glad you like it! That potion was a challenge to do, Blizzard art directors helped a lot
Here is something new I've done for a small challenge by Dave Elliot (http://deevelliott.deviantart.com/jo...tion-298251651)
It's personal work so I could do with it what I want
Gonna take a while till i can refer to you as not Perzo... you've been in my gallery that way for about 4 years now.
as per usual a GREAT collection of work. and thank you for the inspiration to create something with the wizards art test. More for the future i hope.
Cauldrons are such a bitch... but AMAZING to make look cool... couldn't resist taking a little inspiration from them
Holy ship I'm diggin' that last one! Amazing!! Always loved "badass" girls, hehe. Take Jack from Mass Effect 3 or LeeLoo from The Fifth Element for instance.
Anyways, here's hoping you'll do more badass girls stuff.
loving the colors... and some of the concepts too.. like that sword wielding cowboy.. you have nice dynamic forms and compositions. I have one critque, some of your pieces are coming out flat..meaning it is hard to tell the composition at first look.. like that first pic with the angel dude.. IMHO you should try separating your characters from the bg and add more shadows so that it is easier to judge what exactly is going on....like in post 16 it takes some time to GET that there are creatures in the fg and in the MG .. I hope i made sense
and once again great colors and forms keep rocking
Steamhat: Yeah, perzo is kind of old nickname . I'm happy you like my work. Wizards art test was a lot of fun. I always enjoy doing something just for me, but I got sooo little time for it
MathiasDK: Glad you like it. Hopefully I'll do some more badass girls soon
mehran: Thanks for the nice words and for the crit. as well. I know what you mean. I'm still learning how to ballance more complex illustrations
Here is a little update:
Cover art for Pathfinder Player Companion: Varisia, Birthplace of Legends by Paizo Publishing.
You have great dynamic lighting and composition in your pieces. great work!
Great colorful illustrations!
I like how the watercolor-like quality subtly carried into some of the renderings makes it much richer....although busy, it looks much more harmonious than most of the poorly readable oversharpened digital stuff i'm used to seeing lately
Aj ja by som to chcel tak vediet
