Finished this guy up awhile ago but just got around to molding and casting.
This is my envisioning of one of the green men of Barsoom from Edgare rice Burrows' John Carter of Mars books. I wanted to get my interpretation of the green men of Barsoom down before the upcoming film, or trailers of, change my mental landscape. I am always disappointed when I see illustrations that portray them as four armed orcs. I really wanted to do something a little more interesting while sticking faithfully to the books description, Anyway, thanks for taking a look. As usually, I have more photos availible here. http://www.monstercaesar.com/page0/page20/page20.html
lovin' the skin textures and detail on him! has he been cast that colour or is it primer?
www.findphil.com for a look at my older stuff
www.facebook.com/vig.illustrationgraphics for recent stuff
http://velikan.tumblr.com/ for the latest up-to-the-minute stuff, and process nonsense
And finally, http://www.here-there-be-monsters.net/ is the place to be if you want to buy some of my work that has been kitted by the talented hand of Dave.
It's so freakishly perfect, I thought this was ZBrush until I read the text. Superb clay work.
DMN Creative - thank you. That is the colour of the resin, no primer.
philofmars- thanks, I took a tad bit of influence from your sculpture, I hope that was ok? Its so awesome, I couldn't help it.
Doubleclick - Thank you, Zbrush and I are not on speaking terms at the moment. One of these days I hope to kindle a friendship but at the moment...................
Highway666 - lol, no its not zbrush. Here is a photo for size comparison.
very cool one
Nice Tars Tarkas! I'm a 2D artist and Tharks have to be one of the toughest races to visualize. In part I think because if you follow Burrough's description really accurately they just look lame. Anyway - cool to see - and I'm the same way, I like to get some solid sketches down before my impressions change due to film.
