Then i shall make it sexier, if im gonna cheat, im gonna do it with style (and boobs).

Pixeltuner. Hehe, I don't really know how you would convey healing on her armour apart from maybe putting the crosses on it? I really love her hair though. Very prissy in comparison to her clothing.
Mr. Gadbury. Your sketch has some fantastic energy to it, I hope that comes through with the colours.
kurios. That's a really good idea, I hadn't thought of that myself. all of the eyes glowing themselves might be an odd issue in terms of lighting though...
Bethany K. To show the duality of the angel I think it would work, the places where the two heads meet might be a bit odd to work with though.
koalapanda. I think it would be better to be less ambiguous as right now it just looks like pain is being inflicted. I like the idea of lots of different wings on his back there.
Junpei. Gorgeous wing textures with the brushstrokes, I don't think it looks stupid ;p Also...yeah maybe a bit NSFW in terms of blood, sorry. Because I didn't put any detail into the sketch I didn't think I would need to warn anyone.
Jamesbiff. A good concept, the wings are kind of dominating the picture right now though, perhaps they could be coming around the fallen person a bit more to make it a bit more intimate or to frame the image?
@Caspia I was just going to have the one eye be the light source. It still might be problematic though.
Changed the wings and made her bigger, does anyone have any tips for painting feathers/wings? realised its something ive never really done before
Okay, the academic year is over... time for a proper training
My first WIP. I plan on designing an archangel bustling with fury with her body glowing and face blazing with a holy fire. Although when she leaps into the fire grass and flowers bloom under her feet. I think I might add wings just for sake of being mainstream xD

@kurios: I think that would be a really rad light source. If you don't think it will be enough maybe add some atmospheric lighting that is subtle so it doesn't take away from the main source??
@paolo13: That's a neat idea to have a more modern militaristic style to it.
@jamesbiff: I find it helps to do a really solid block in of the feather shapes this way you can clearly see what's going on. and do it in layers, this way they lay naturally.
@sarmati: I like that idea. I think though if you are going to show flowers/growth beneath her then you might want to move her up in the composition a bit so they don't feel squished.
Going to try to incorporate symbolism into the design to add some "story telling" to it. My sketch is probably illegible 8D haha. As it stands he/she/androgynous is generating water from one hand, while holding their spear/book passively in the other and stepping on a snake. yadda yadda. Much to work out.

Tweaked the sketch and making him out to be a Mayan warrior with quetzal wings. His legs are still out of whack after I look at it a bit more...
I'm totally over my previous concept. This archangel is going to be wearing haute couture suiting with angel wings woven into the fabric panels on the back, with verdant greenery sprouting up around her very high heels. Angels don't get foot pain or bunions. GAH! I want to be home with my sketchbook and not these yellow post-its!
Here's my try:
@Pixel Jaaaaaa gezellig he Zin in donderdag!
Yeah man I'm trying here, I don't know if it's communicating well though...hmmm....almost looks like hes sucking the life out of the person rather than healing them. Or maybe it looks like he's empowering them with life through his holy wings. HMMM....
WOW I like the action in this one. I think it has a great pose going on there.
Probably the most 'healing' looking one yet!
I'm gonna remove the eyes because they look sinister.....maybe I should curve them differently for a more empathic feeling? Gotta fix the arms and hands too...they look really wonky O_O.
Thought I’d give some feedback -
Pixeltuner You make this look easy! Great gesture, costume and I like the wings. Is that a halo behind? Would love to see a background or some context? Look forward to seeing this one develop (as always).
Mr Gadbury – Awesome perspective, looks apocalyptic and epic.
Kahel – Hope you’ll find a few more hours to work on it, looking quite slick and anime style at the moment, clothes show good detail.
Kurios – I like your concept, maybe for reference look at butterfly wings, they have lots of eye like patterns?
Bethany K – I think this is a great concept. I saw a similar x-files episode once that had an angel with four faces, a Seraphim (it was called All Souls.) They merged them closer together though so they were on a single skull.
Obstfelder – Great composition and costume. I think if you make the sword too fierce it may distract from the angel but one of my favourites so far.
Koalapanda – Don’t worry about disasters, you’re here to learn right!?! (Just try again…) It looks right proportionally but I think there should be some connection between the angel and other guy, the semi-ambiguous gesture is very dominating too but maybe that’s deliberate?
LibertineM – Cool composition and the values are great, shadows radiating from her halo perhaps? 2 minor things, I think the sword looks wrong in perspective and maybe her right foot is off.
Feralcoconut – I don’t like the wings (sorry!) They make her look like she’s either flying or landing but her pose looks really grounded (don’t listen to me if you like it) the scale and verticality I do like though.
GEB – How do you set up your compositions? Everything fits perfectly from the start…
Deadlyhazard – I think you can achieve the balance you want with a really strong thoughtful facial expression. Also is he, killing or healing? The gesture could be clearer?
Caspia – Just follow the rules and put some effort in and I’m sure you’ll make it to poll (the mods are very fair… they’ve put me in previous chows after all!) The pose and ideas are quite original. Have the Mayans got angels? Lots of potential for costume and jewellery.
The Original [E] – Great level of detail already, look forward to seeing this one finished.
Junpei – That is awesome, great work, not stupid at all, so dynamic (I hope you’ve not deleted it or something!) The wings could be fantastic when finished. Good stuff.
Jamesbiff – This pose is my favourite, I like the story here too, have you seen the painting, wings of love by Stephen pearson (its cheesy but you should take a look anyway)?
Paolo13 – Different, in a good way! Great modern twist. Pose is cool … those eyes are spooky!
Sarmati – Reminds me of devil may cry or bayonetta, very gothic, could be a really kick ass character.
Hala – Lots of ideas, the symbolism is a good touch, but, looks a little statue of liberty though with the book and pose. I’m probably not being fair as its still an early wip.
Gemsie – My second favourite… I think the helmet spoils it, makes it too harsh with the soft gesture and caring expression. Also her wings are protecting them so why does she need it?
I hope something I’ve said helps and apologise if anything comes across rude, I have tons of respect for you guys and am just trying to be useful!
Thanks Dayle, I didn't notice that until you said something! Going to rework that now.

Some very good concepts and ideas so far, really like what everyone is doing, here is what i have so far.
What I have so far. I feel like the left limbs are totally screwed up. Especially the bent leg. It probably needs to be rotated some.
My sketches. I think I'm going to make her more warrior-like to balance the theme.
Sorry about the oversized attachments. My first post.
Some great ideas floating around the tread. unfortunately i used up my free hour i had to pump out my initial sketch, ill leave some comments about peoples stuff tomorrow when i have more time.
lol, as i was drawing this i had a thought . . . her hair getting snagged in the gears
ok some comments on what i have seen so far
PixelTurner- Looks Awesome man, love the pose and the armor.
Obstfelder- looks really cool, kind of reminds me of Saint Seiya
KoalaPanda- So far so good dude, only thing that concerns me is that the image looks very dark, waiting to see how you introduce the healing part.
feralcoconut- until now it gives me some kind of fairy vibe, waiting to see it develop more.
Deadlyhazard- Awesome, looking really cool your angel/golem
The Original [E]'s- one of my favorites, perhaps making the legs longer.
Paolo13's -It rocks man, very original concept, cant wait to see more of it.
DoctorDigits - nice sketch man, but so far the angel gives me some kind of evil vibe, but the general composition its great.
@Dayle Yeah I'm trying to think of ways to do that without having to repaint the character, lol! Maybe it'll read to others, maybe not :X. Might have to scrap the mask and maybe make a face of a person that's sympathetic looking? Hmm.. think I need to start cleaning up more and add more midtones.
Lots of coolness going on in here.
Deadlyhazard: Nice. That's one scary looking angel! What's that man shaped thing between his hand and the face bottom right? Careful you don't clutter your image with too many ellements
Giordan: Nice face, though at the moment it's a little on the large side compared with the body I reckon you could take it down to about 60- 70%
Adevila: He has a proper classical face which I think is great. I think if you brought the right shoulder plate (or his left) up a little and the left leg (his right) down a little it would work better with the perspective that you've set up around his waste
DoctorDigits: Crazy clockwork angel. Are you going to add metalic blade like feathers?
Dayle: Well there's a fair bit of figuring out to do yet. But I find if I take a round brush and flatten it in the brush editor. Then set the brush size to pen pressure, working in pure black and white using the X key to switch between colours. This allows me to do a very lose, broad sketch. Just doodling shapes will start to apear for you and you can just start to fill in the blanks. I usually have the canvas quite small on screen to start with, so it's like a thumbnail sketch. If it doesn't work as a thumbnail, then it won't when it's a full sized image. Then Ill reduce my brush size as I make the image large and zoom in.
Anywho I have to bust a move and get back to work... My boss is eyeballing me...
I was actually trying to make a subtle hint at a cross formed between two cliffs and some clouds but its failing miserably. I might toy with it or give up and paint it away >_>. I'm thinking his right wing (if you're from his POV) looks like its cropped awkwardly. I might remove it or let it stay. And maybe the guy on the bottom right should be budged over to the left a bit to show more of his back? Not sure.
