Wow intense updates!!! Keep up the good work!!!!
I just noticed thats excalibur the holy sword as your attached image for this sketchbook! Love that show!!
Hands are looking good. Nice creatures too, the fishhead reminds me of hp lovecraft.
It is unfortunate that you can't spend as much time as you' d like, but..
keep doing those imaginary sketches right after some studies.
You'll learn even more if you draw the creatures hands aswell after doing so many hands. right now they seem cut off of the picture frame.
So this is definitely my new "look in here to get motivated to work harder" sketchbook, you do soo much! I shall aspire to have your work ethic! Nice studies too! Keep it up, which you probably will anyway lol
Thanks for visiting my sketchbook i truly appreciate it! You have such great understanding of form and values! Ill go through more of your sb when i have more time
Help me improve!
You have received great advice. The hardest part is to discipline oneself to remember that form has planes and planes are indicated by the tones. I am working primarily with monochromatic colors because I have to unlearn a load of bad habits.
so remember do not take any short cuts...learn form, properly values, learn to see big shapes to little shapes. It is very difficult to unlearn bad habits. really!!!!
Hey man, so far I think you're doing great!
You're no grandmaster of the boards yet, but don't get discouraged by all these awesome artists with the 5 star books.
Use them for inspiration, as guides to a possible future.
Your hard work will pay off in the end.
I think in your color pieces, the colors are generally good as others have said.
I've seen comments on improving volume, b/w studies should help in that regard.
I think an important key to consider is something I saw in one of Dave Rapoza's livestreams, where he was talking about atmosphere creating depth.
Try and tone down the hue and saturation in the background of your work.
That should help to create atmospheric depth.
Now, back to work!
eclip-se : Haha thanks man, that was honestly the intended reaction...oh now I feel like a douche.
Joe777k7: Thanks man, and damn right, holding down the Soul Eater fort, Exalbur SB avatar, Crona actual avatar haha
Jaik: Hey man, nicest words I've got in forever! You are motivating me to work harder XD Sorry though this update is probably gonna seem really lame...T_T
IsaacEs: Hey man, we're all learning, and we're all struggling with one thing or another...I'm gonna check up on you again, keep working!
Sapphirelullaby: Haha, what's a little pleasure without some pain right...and that was a very awkward look into my psyche...now back to our regularly scheduled programming
sombertwin: Thanks man, that's some good advice, I'll keep it in mind!
Harmageddon: Hey thanks man, and yeah I'm far from being a god of anything XD Thanks for the crit/ advice...I'm gonna be making an effort to work that into my colour stuff!
Alright, so compared to the way the updates have been, this is admittedly really lame...haha I feel like I've done no work over the past two days...oh well I guess we get right back up on that horse, make use of the day of tomorrow and plow through right! Anyway haha the first two black and white monster things are reffed again, Jordu Schell is amazing...I'm actually learning a lot more than I initially thought I would from these. And yeah the last image, is just my brain trying to process everything it learned...it turned out...well it turned out XD
Damn dude! Your stuff is looking really good. The armor and Creatures are looking solid.
Quit the negative talk; it's about the quality of your studies that matter. You could do fifty pages of anatomy with your mind turned off and be hardly better for it. I think you're making good progress.
You've certainly improved a lot over the course of this thread.
It's admirable to see such a diligent and dedicated artist, keep it up.
Wow man, love the huge sketchbook dumps your putting on here, just keep pushing out those studies .

Hey thanks for dropping by my sketchbook. OH MAN your sketchbook is IMPRESSIVE. It's really great to see so many studies and so much hard work. Very inspiring!! Your recent stuff looks amazing. Especially how you treat armors.. love it. Gonna be a regular visitor from now on.
Haha, still an impressive update Not sure if it was intended or maybe it was because of the ref but the armour in your last update looks dull, could just be the look you are going for, not sure, if it is ignore this. Metal is a very high % specular material, so its going to have quite high contrast .
Good updates nonetheless, the monster/alien studies and sketches turned out well
kevin_: Thanks man, totally love when you stop by. But yeah dude you're right, gonna keep that kinda stuff in mind!
Pete Hidalgo: Thanks Pete ^_^ I'm trying to push my stuff a little bit more lately, work on some weaknesses, you know that old song and dance!
phiq: Haha, thanks man, I'll try to knock it off, or at least tone it down...you're right though, I took your advice and tried to slow down on the studies a little, I found that after I did my pages and pages, I retained I dunno...less than half...haha, gonna keep more focused from now on!
birdscanfly: Hey thanks man! Really! I will dude, hope you check back
CrashPoint: Thanks for the support man.
will123will: Thanks dude, I totally will, I'm pushing harder than ever lately, hopefully that shows through!
Cabbage Caterpillar: Thanks man! Comments like yours are really the fuel to my fire!
Jaik: Thanks for the crit man, the refs were a little dull, but all the blame totally lies on my shoulders XD Haha, I'll keep it in mind dude. Hope you check back man!
Hey guys! Here's the stuff from the last two days, uhm typical pencil stuff, as you can see there's some totally horrid faces haha. Gotta start studying those a whole hell of a lot more! Uhm, there's some more monster studies, these ones were hard...as you can see they turned out pretty meh XD And uhm there's that frog dude...well he's a frog dude I like him...just started sketching him before I posted. Last there's, Anti-Venom...I always liked the concept, and well idea of having a white Venom...figured I'd try my hand at it...it turned out...well let me say I liked it while I was doing it...no is...meh. Haha. Oh and Phiq if you read this...hopefully this was a little less negative XD I know I knocked pretty much everything
Oh wow, those digital pieces are amazing! Great improvement. And man, you're working really hard at this!
I love flipping from the first page to the last page of a really long sketchbook. Your lines are much, much smoother than they were when you started this thread, and your forms are much more confident. It's fantastic to see how far you've come, and I cannot wait to see where you'll be in another fifteen pages!
http://www.conceptart.org/forums/sho...33#post2548933 I have a sketchbook.
hey dude, thx for stopping by my sketchbook and commenting, i really like your creature designs, awesome stuff, the amount of studies you do makes me feel like a slacker. well nice work and looking forward to more

Satu: Hey thanks a lot man!
Aaron_: Thanks man, I'm just trying to catch up to you
Basham: Hey thanks for the complimetns! You're too kind, but yeah man I really can't wait either...hopefully I'll be worlds better XD
Lumens: Thanks dude, like Aaron, I'm just tryign to catch up to how awesome you are!
blazingdimensions: Thanks dude, haha, no need to feel like a slacker XD I think I'm a slacker.
aks9: Thanks a lot dude, the thing with the hands, is I think I over did it, I was too focused on pumping out as many as I could, and I didn't really retain enough. Gotta take that stuff slower from now on.
Flashback: Thanks man! Give me any crits if you think of them, a crit from anyone, no matter the skill level is still a crit and they all help me improve!
Hey guys! ^_^ Uhm here's the stuff from the last two days. You know typical study study stuff and a new fan art...completed-ish...well it's really broken in a lot of places but, oh well what can I say. I can only work on it for so long in one night XD
Josh your kicking ass Just a few crits and i'll be on my way.
1. Those head studies really try to get the placement of the features correctly. Really encourage micheal hamptons head demo, its legit!
2. The venom piece, the thumb is placed on the wrist, but the hand seems flat dont you think?
3. The recent spider man piece, he has no "meat" on his thighs, so put a little more there.
Alright man , have a nice one !
Nice Texture studies. Nice head studies too... been doing that quite a bit myself. Heads are hard!!
Buddy, could you please send me in higher resolution all the eye studies you've done? btw, you roooooocks!

Hell yeah, the race is on!
Those eye studies are very strong. But the mouth studies are lacking a bit in the form. Try to draw out the center line. It would help a lot.
I feel your figures are stronger in your studies compared to the imaginative ones. Maybe looking at a ref while doing the fan-art could be a good idea. It's a great way to learn from the ref.
The human torso is definitely one of the hardest things to paint though. It's tough because it's so subtle. All the muscle definitions and forms changes are really just a ripple on flat surface of the trunk. It's really easy to overdo the abs or the pecs, and it's really easy to lose definition as well. But so far you are doing great. Just remember how round and full the trunk is as a form, and always put emphasis on the fullness of the form as opposed to the anatomical definitions.
