LOTR, Halo, Heroes Sketchcards from Topps
hey guys and gals,
i do believe i'm going to bail on ya this eve. i'm totally in chillin' mode with my wife - a thing we don't do too often due to busy schedules (work, managing our apt. complex, running, biking, seeing friends, you know the score). so....please draw a creature for me and i'll hopefully be seeing everyone next time (whenever that may be).
There is no "I" in team, but there is an "I" in pie. And there's an "i" in meat pie. Meat is the anagram of team...~Shaun "Shaun of the Dead"
is this thing every sat. night at 8? i was gonna go tonight but i just found out my buddy is throwin a quad-kegger and i wouldnt miss it for the world, so many woman......oh lol anyways i hope i can make it out the next one and draw with you guys, it would be cool to see you again kekai as well, and if anyone wants to, im down to meet in seattle any day of the week to draw cause i dont always have a draw buddy =( well hope to see some of you at the next one, let me know when it is, and how late do you guys draw for?

So I just got home and just wanted to say I had a hella fun time tonight being able to put faces to names. I'm sorry I had to bail so early. Sometimes being a morning person gets in the way.
We should scan the work we did tonight and post it somewhere: either in this thread or another.
Until next time!
i had a great time last night, loads of fun. nice to meet everyone.
AWESOME!! I had a blast last night, it was so much fun hanging around with fellow artists and just drawin' and chattin'. I can't wait till the next time we have one of these. Am I the only one that wants this to be a weekly thing instead of just two times a month? I mean it'd be super cool... I'm actually really inspired now and wanna draw more and get better so I can have some "good" stuff in my sketchbook LOL.
Great time... can't wait to see those pix of everyone drawin.
yea that was very cool, im definetly up for a weekly one, these sessions are pure motivation, i went home and drew all night, didn't want to let the energy go. if everyone else is up for it ill be there.
I totally need to draw more and get better. Everyone was doing awesome stuff, and after seeing people like Kekai and Kristen just draw like mad and whip that shit out in no time was CRAZY COOL INSPIRING!
Seriously though we need to do this weekly. I couldn't stand only doing this twice a month. Fridays, Saturdays, Sundays, Mondays, whatever... I'm down for it. I work the morning shift so I'm always free at night... as long as my buddy Ruptured doesn't mind driving me and SokNwet up.
Yeah, I must say that was a blast, everyone. It was so cool getting out and mingling with other artists. What you guys pulled out of thin air was inspirational! I'm definitely down for a weekly thing. Sounds like fun! I personally prefer the fridays/saturdays rather than other days of the week.
YAY! You finally registered! Now just scan in everything you've ever done and upload it here so I can see more of your kick-ass work... epcially that drawing of me you did in like 10 minutes. Feel free to do that everyweek... you can start a weekly "scribbles of skrubbles" thread LOL.
Anyway, it was cool to meet you... and nova, and mike, and sok, and dave, and kekai, and one2hit, and ben, and and and... gah, i still need to learn some of your real names... I feel kinda dumb refering to you by your screenname. OH WELL.
awesome, cant wait to some more of your work merekat! just got the tip of the iceberge on saturday.
im down for whenever, but the sat/fri thing works best for me too.
yeah, wow. that was really awesome and unreal. thanks for that everybody. man i feel like such a newbie, haven't felt like that in a long time. got my attitude changed around for sure, for the better
tagHeuer - i didn't realize you were the one who made the cowboy guy, with the sweet textures. i wish i would've known and could've been a fangirl, hehe..
kekai - it was cool sitting by you and seeing you sketch, and being nosy and pointing out what i liked. hope ya didn't mind
merekat - see what did i tell ya
skrubbles - i'm sure you're not the only one, i thought it was great how we all gawked at the weeks we had to wait until the next one
ben - hey, try sending the messages again. i cleaned out my mailbox
eli - get those guys to come next time :]
gasmask - officially it's the third weekend of each month, but it sounds like we might be getting together more frequently. check this thread, there won't be much unsaid
scans of the sketchjam!! [edit: thanks skrubbles]
i've got larger versions, if you want one give me a pm.

you posted the same link twice... here ya go:
btw, for those who didn't go and are curious... the first sketchjam we each took about 10-15 minutes each. The second one we only got 2 minutes each, but I swear it only seemed like I was sketching for about half a minute.
Oh, and fyi I did the coolest thing in both sketchjams... so whatever drawing you think is the coolest... uh, i did it....
LOL! j/k.... maybe next week... or in five years mine'll be the coolest one on the sketchjam
skrubbles.. you took like FOREVER on the 2 minute one, it was like 4 MINUTES! :funny: don't worry guy, i believe in you
actually, I probably did. hehehehehe
oh man I most enjoyed it this weekend...
We need to find a bigger place to gather, I mean, we were busting at the seams at the coffee joint...
The sketch and etch was an awesome idea, I loved it, we need to do more of them...
and for the weekly thing...DEFINETLY! I can do Friday evenings anywhere pratically, just say and I will bring skrubbles and sok...
That looks pretty cool guys and gals! Next time I try to get my early-morning-lovin'-ass to stay a little later.
I am totally down for the weekly gathering especially if we could find a larger place to chill at.
i'll get to researching a larger place
i was also thinking, if you guys were up for it, meeting during the day at some cool urban environments or a park maybe, so we could draw some landscapes or city scenes. maybe once a month out of our meetings do that? maybe plan a trip to a museum, go study the masters for an evening or an afternoon, (im really into that, dont know if anyone else is), just a thought.

I'm totally up for an out-door type meeting sometime to draw urban stuff.. especially while it's still summer and the weather is nice. Gasworks park is a nice place I go to sometimes.. good view of the city, lots of people to sketch, and those pipes are fun to study too..
Also, I'd like to go to weekly meetings as well.. if I think of any bigger coffeeshops or other places that would be good, I'll chime in. Friday or Saturday nights are usally good for me right now..
hey eli, didnt get a chance to talk to you at the sketch meet, but that looks great. that cowboy is also amazing!, consider me a fan. what year are you at AIS?(i think thats where your going right?) solid stuff though, keep it up
didn't get a chance to you at the sketchgroup last night either, Eli. I saw your cowboy model a lil while ago on beyondunreal.com or someplace similar as a downloadable player model. Awesome work on that btw. I was just curious if that was done for fun or if you're working on a mod for the MSU competition. If its the second then.... oooooo oooo ooo do you have a site for it that I can drool over? I'm actually part of corona leonis entertainment inc... we're working on the Eon game for that competition. If anyones curious, here's a link to the game site:
holy shit! that looks great! what are you doing on the project? i remember seeing those orange guys on cgtalk, very nice.
thanks ben. Actually I'm a concept artist/3d artist for the game. Not much of my stuff is in the media section... I've mainly been doing alot of the world object designs and models (which can be seen on my site). Currently I'm texturing those models. Its a great experience working on the game (even for free), I'm learning a lot and getting a shitload of experience... plus all the guys I'm working with are pro level and the game is AWESOME... but ofcourse I'M gonna say that LOL.
