Great work on your experiment with the lasso tool. I had a hard time figuring out how to exactly use it correctly as seen by other artists. You pulled it off very nice indeed.
The bust study is very nice.
Your master studies and pieces inspired by your master studies are nothing short of awe-inspiring!
Mila & BigJiantRobut: thanks alot!
Some crap for today, might upload something more later.
Cast, another lasso experiment which went a lot worse than yesterday and a quick photostudy. These were all fairly quick.
I have to try to clean up my workflow- everything looks so smudgy ugh.
I like your studies a lot! Keep up the great work. The realism of the still life on the first page is truely incredible. Btw, how did you make the grass in your latest study? Did you make a brush for it or..?
Thought I'd check what was new here! I like your new lasso piece again. Often I want to try it for myself again, but I can't figure out how to properly set it up or begin.
Would you be willing to give me some advice? It's hard finding tutorials and I would greatly appreciate it!
Recivm: Thanks a bunch! Painted some basecolors first with pretty regular brushes and used a bit more grass-like custom brush on top of it.
Mila: thanks for the continuing support!
I don't know if I can give you very good tips, the way the tools are used should change accordingly to what you want to achieve. The few pieces I'm doing with mostly the lassotool have been mostly about laying down large chunks of color. I usually have in mind what kind of colours I want to use when I start but I'm not too concerned about the composition. I just use the lasso tool to get interesting shapes and then use the gradient tool to create soft transistions between colours. I also tend to rotate what I have drawn so far to make it a bit more interesting and find new things. In the lasso piece last page you can see some horizontal spikes in the background, those were actually pointing upwards before I turned the whole canvas around 90 degrees. I was pretty happy how it turned out, the composition got pretty interesting after turning it around few times. Might wanna check out Jama's sketchbook here in CA. His vimeo page has few videos uploaded about his workflow with lassotool. He's so good.
I don't know if this was of any help, please feel free to ask more questions.
Something for today, I'll probably upload some more in the evening. Just few crappy enviroments from imagination, trying to get more loose and work more from the large areas to small ones. I think I get into details too fast and do not spend enoguh time planning my paintings.
Also another cast, not quite done but I just focused on the facial features.
gonna call this done, don't feel like working on it any longer.
The design sucks and the composition is pretty un-interesting but it was lots of fun to draw. Also includes tons of mistakes, ugh
Your rendering is great and you have very nice colors in your works keep up the good work=)
Awesome artist and friends
strangedawn: thanks alot!
Was out for most of the day today, couldn't draw as much as I would've liked. Did maybe two hours of sketching and few studies. The body is not ready yet but figured I'd post it anyway so today's post won't be so pathetic
Worked a bit more on that enviroment from few days back. Also did a selfportrait and other random crap but they turned out so horrible I don't even dare to post them.
If you got any crits please do tell!
TomDeVis: Thanks for the input! I was doing the figures mainly for the colours and didn't care muh about edges, though I doubt they'd be much better even if I did, I'm really bad with edges. And definitely agree wtih the landscapes!
Some crap, stuff from imagination and scribbles.
A study I started, still unfinished.
I've been doing some anatomy studies lately, they're not really worth posting so I haven't got much to show. Heres some quick metal studies.
Hopefully I can get this rolling again, theres been few things going on.
Anyways, heres some really really quick imagination crap, I'll try to get something better done tomorrow.
Hey again Kvenh! Just wanted to say that I like every single drawing/painting you've posted here since I last visited here! Well I do visit here every time you post something because I'm secretly lurking in here. Ups, did I say that in loud?! Anyways good job as usual with these lates works. Really great works from imagination! I love yous enviros and nudes. I have this habit of going through my subscribed threads in the mornings at the job before starting anything, but yours are always so hard to look because of all the nude women, lol I love your nude women but it would be somewhat embarrassing to start to explain to my co-workers why I am checking these nude women from the internet But keep up! I'll continue lurking!
Satupeikko: Thanks alot for the support! I'll try to draw less naked women so you can check back ;P
It's so hot I'm not able to get much done, it's 30c+ inside already and it doesn't get any better. Heres something I managed to do none the less, perhaps will upload more when it cools a bit towards the night
