Hi MW,

great pice! the colours are very nice! I see this more of a fun study than anything else so I don't think it needs much more to it, but I am curious about how you imagined the BG.
That grey isn't very telling and some hint of background would really be cool.

your first image reminds me of something out of metroid, it seems almost more iconic, like a relic, than a creature. i'm guessing its "head" is lit, kinda like hades from disney's hercules? anyways its a real nice effect.

the second one is cool, also. for some reason it looks to me like something meta would draw. dont know why i cant shake that from my head...would like to see more of it, but it looks like you got bored with it.

the last image i like most of all. seems more finished, refined, planned out, and frankly more like a creature. ah and you have a background, too. the translucent blue lighting rocks my world. that thing is cool looking. i want one for a pet.

You have a Wonderfull colour eye!
and the 3D rendering is very life like.

are you working in painter? It looks like it. I am still fighting with that program, the work flow is not very natural....

there is a hint of BG in the last one

schlo - thanks man. ..no process pics. .maybe i ll do some next time..

amphex - thanks.. .these are the first ones that ive done. ..but when i do more i ll be sure to post em

evil - tricks of the trade. ..haha.. .um, im pretty new at this myself. i learned what little i know about color by doing reference paintings of people.. ..just started these creature things. the only other thing i can say is to use different style brushes for texture.. ..it can really make an image "pop"

did this one today.. . .really hate it. started off kinda cool, but never really developed in to anything.. . ..about two and a half hours.

evil - thanks for the reply. some good brushes? um. ..my best advice is to choose a brush and play with the different settings.. . just experiment and see what you can do.. .the more you practice with it the more you learn.

newest one.. .two and a half hours

metal- these all have great textures. I esp. like the fourth one, with the slug-like tail sticking up. Although the backgrounds are fairly plain, they give a good contrast to the interesting creatures. I also like how you fade in and out of detail and bluriness in certain areas, that gives the creatures a great sense of depth. Your colors are wonderful. Awesome job.
