hiya, this weekend was like 3 blank A4s and graphic pen. Doodling in-between typical weekend stuff. Not sure I hate or like that medium.

yeah, strange cyber lady sitting on a chair hanging on a wall, the thing of that age.
Really imaginative stuff and very well executed artwork, especially the traditional stuff... The woman in post 2 I would expect to see in a gallery!

@TFsean - thanks. Yeah, versatility is the way to go. The portfolio may look less compact with various styles and techniques but I don't care. Hopefuly the personality shows through the other levels of the image.

some recent character concepts for today.
Now let's take it seriously ( ...why so serious ?! ). If you feel you see the way I can improve my work; tell me so. I would love to hear what's bugging you around here. But hey, feel free to feed my ego if you feel so as well
It's hard to critique highly stylized works like these you have made.
But one thing may be on the samurai... the lighting... it's hard to tell where the lighting is coming from. It seems pretty diffuse; but this piece could become stronger if you used a smaller, and more direct light from a particular direction. It could make the composition stronger and more believable, due to all the exaggerated limbs.
And be sure to have that same light reflect off some background objects, because that's what will make it look like your character exists in a "space" and isn't just floating above the page.
@p sage - thanks, yeah the lighting is something to discuss. However in the case of urban samurai I was selling the overall look of that character rather than some action or mood he might be in. I thought this flat lighting with good defined form will work, sort of grafitti way. But maybe some direct shadows will do the trick; something that will keep the description of the character but will push the 3D form out.
On the other hand I am looking for a more of a global look on my works, when one can feel that there is something missing or lack over-all the images I am uploading to this space.

Not so retro today. I came across these two concepts I created more than a year ago for some personal project. Was looking for a beast of an organic form. Still kind of like it, maybe it's time to push it further.
Thanks for the great 2011 around here folks. It is basically my first year on CA and I feel like I improved a lot both in thoughts and skills of concept art...

long time no post. I have couple of news though. Was working on this trailer for our game we are about to release in the mid March.
Uploading some sketches as well. Two figure studies are pretty old. I recently found them on the disk and thought they are somehow inspiring.
