With the end of Drama week, it is time to get back to the roots. Crit Week begins now. Visit the Crit Center here: http://conceptart.org/forums/forumdisplay.php?f=59
Rules of Crit Week.
#1 - The first rule of Crit Week is, you must post about Crit Week. Post in your signatures. Post if you see two people battling. Post if you see people slacking. Hit right between the eyes with these two words. CRIT WEEK.
#2 - The second rule of Crit Week is, you MUST POST about CRIT WEEK.
#3 - If someone says "thanks, that's all I need
", fixes the piece, or cries to mama, the crit is over.
#4 - It takes only two to Crit. It takes only one to say THANKS.
#5 -There are no limits on Crits, but they need to be impactful, well thought, and constructively placed square behind the forehead.
#6 - No shirts or shoes needed (Ilaekae/Chaos that is not an invitation for nekkidness in the what do you look like thread)...just some well thought words that knock someone forward into seeing something new.
#7 - Crits will go on as long as they have to.
#8 - If this is your first time in Crit Week, you have to Crit.
and the last rule of crit week...
I suppose you could crit yourself. Critsterbation is what it is all about anyway. Crits from others teach us to crit ourselves and once we can look at our work and know what everyone else will say, we are at that next stage in learning....
to where it needs to be...
And I don't mean knocked the hell out!! I am talking about that point where you just know what to do and don't even think about it anymore. You just do. Like riding a bike...
Jason Absolutely true! I have heard you speak about it on several of the online classes you did. I think the Color theory and the principles of light was the first one I found about these steps. I've found this diagram to be quite useful to beginners....It shows rather well what you are talking about
@ LostFayth - Haha those are literally the exact stages I went through. Even the WTF moment when I realized my manga copies sucked. Fortunately I'm in stage 3 now (took a while to get out of the whole manga thing).
I'm at stage 0...Inconstant Attitude. I refuse to take the medication the doctor prescribed for my schizophrenia, because it's obvious he's trying to poison me.
Gotta start somewhere.
On the whole, human beings want to be good, but not too good, and not quite all the time.
- George Orwell
By all means let's be open-minded, but not so open-minded that our brains drop out.
- Richard Dawkins
Make your signatures folks. ITS EFFING CRIT WEEK.
LostFayth, the stages in that chart are all too painfully familiar. I think I've gone all around the circle at least once and now I'm stuck in the white bit... The "whoa, I'm not nearly as good as I thought I was, better do something about it" phase"...
(That phase is kind of like going around thinking you're looking fine only to discover you've had your skirt tucked into your panties for the past hour.)
Hey wait...what about the chicks and that rule?
...oh wait...Fight Club was about dudes mostly, I forgot. *been a while since I've seen that movie*
Hah, all these years and someone still has that Jlalfalro deservers the credit on inspiring that one.Jason Absolutely true! I have heard you speak about it on several of the online classes you did. I think the Color theory and the principles of light was the first one I found about these steps. I've found this diagram to be quite useful to beginners....It shows rather well what you are talking about
Rev up that forum 'cause I'm ready for some critiquing
"Astronomy offers an aesthetic indulgence not duplicated in any other field. This is not an academic or hypothetical attraction and should require no apologies, for the beauty to be found in the skies has been universally appreciated for unrecorded centuries."
Wanna find out how much you really suck?
Go to the appropriate threads
and crit somebody else's work!
Do it NOW!!!
It'll do y'good...
No position or belief, whether religious, political or social, is valid if one has to lie to support it.--Alj Mary
Ironically, the concept of SIMPLICITY is most often misunderstood by simple-minded people. --Alj Mary
I think we crashed the critique forum...
The ConceptArt.org Forums database has encountered a problem.
ok! I have the lounge bookmarked, but I better bookmark that one instead
