Looks impressive! A good program to use for those who can't get zbrush or mudbox.
Just thinking out-loud here, but maybe this is the start of a 3D equivalent of The GIMP. Looks amazingly close to zbrush.
Just tagging on here there's also a 3d sculpt app for iPod/iPad too:
So in a way I'm glad developers are out there making cheaper alternatives for people to try.
THANK YOU SO MUCH! Someone mentioned it to me, and I kept searching google for "sculptress". Finally!
Once I tried sculpting in Blender (which is free too) but, from what I remember, it wasn't as intuitive as this Sculptris. I really like it, thank's for the link!
Thanks for bringing this up. Fun, really easy to learn, and capable of good results. I made this old man face with no prior experience using this type of 3d creation.
Anyone know if this has a way to change the lighting?
Surpher, yea unfortunately Pixologic swiped it up. Well, as others have said, better Pixologic then another big company. It is still free though. And by all means, its a well deserved offer to Thomas. Althoguh to have the arrogance of calling it "A gift from Pixologic"... jeeezz.
Princaelway, you should really try it out. Its great fun.
It's free for now, once it leaves the alpha stage and goes gold I doubt it will be free then.
My first hope is that they dont implement it into Zbrush. I mean the dynamic tessalation would be a godsendt for zbrush. I really dont hope this happens, or at least that they keep it as a stand alone app also.
My second hope is that if the DO keep it as a stand alone app, that it will be a cheaper alternative to Zbrush for those who cant afford Zbrush or those who find its UI to hard.
Sculptris is amazing, I can't recommend it enough.
thought I'd give this thread a bump -
