2 new updates of my mage. my pencils, sketchbooks etc. arrived today! uhm, what should I say... I LOVE LEAD HOLDER PENCILS!!
wtf are you stockpiling pens or something
the shading for the mage is looking better at this point but ut´s hard to tell where the main lightsorce is coming from.
with the massive amount of studies you are putting out it´ll be fun to see just how far you will go.
keep it up!
Nice! I have a few of those drawing implements myself .. even the 0.7 fat Faber one... (dont like it that much though)
What I could suggest is for one of the sketches of the mage choose only 3 to 4 tones of gray to work with and use only them to shade. this will make you conscious of what is in front and what is in the back. I use crosshatch for that. Think about doodling a quick sketch of the mage from the side or 3/4 view to better understand his stance. A good idea is to work out your tones in a very simple version of your image .. then later when you are happy with that you can add the folds to the material and other detail. light source is important to establish form!
your drawings are improving nicely since the start =) pencil stockpile is always a good thing, haha
as for the recent drawing, i think the gesture is still abit off, the proportion could be refined more. It's a good thing youre doing more and thinking about rendering tonally, but id take shambok's advice on simplifying the tones into tonal shapes and limiting your value range. But its looking good, and hope to see much more studies in the future!
Thanks very much guys!
I'm not stockpiling pencils, just had at least the half numbers of pencils for years. New are only the lead holder, the H6 Faber Castell, the Rotring Tikky and the Penac Okay well, maybe I'm stockpiling a liiiittle bit. haha.
You guys are right, I need to simplify that stuff for my learning process (the value thing with your advice to just use 4 tones), I overpainted that poor mage way too often. Will change the mage as long as it needs 'til it's correct.
I will upload new stuff in about three or four hours. For now there is one thing, my first drawing with the lead holder and the first drawing in one of my sketchbooks.
Hey Danny! Thanks man, I really appreciate that!
No I haven't had the idea because of Raven Software, don't know why but I liked ravens for so many years and was never able to figure out how to draw them "well". This was done from mind without any possibilities of observation.
Here's a new sketch / study. Ignore the little sketch on the left, it's all about the face. The "miniwizard" left sucks so much^^
Sorry buddies but my girlfriend does not allow to draw pictures of her, so I'll take it off. Will do all other stuff next time.

The bird sketch looks really good
But I think you need to work on face constructions and features, the eyes and mouth look pretty large and the nose big as well, that is if you are going for realistic.
you have very grate style you can work on style and improve it more , your sketch's are strange but good . dont give up , i will check your page later .
Thanks! Yeah I have problems with the construcion of the face. Don't understand loomis good enough and I can't tell you why. I practised it but I has not "hooked" in my mind.
Need to do lot more anatomy studies within head studies etc.
Thanks man, but what do you mean with strange? And do you favour special works of mine which you find have a cool style or everything I did? Would be interesting for me
Hey my friend, aren't you a stalker? Or are you just the only guy who is online the whole day? That's pretty cool. If more guys would write I guess everybody would have more motivation, that would be very cool.
Thanks, I appreciate your comments. I'm thinking about a repaint or overpaint of the raven with ballpen. But first I need some bird or raven studies.
Hey man ... hehehe
I dont think I'm a stalker ... but I did enjoy the game... lol!
I work from home so I'm always in front of the PC. I agree ... people should post more!
Features still look big, specially the eyes, but bottom left one look like a comic character
One thing I found easier, when I first started drawing heads, was doing it big, so I put like 2 or 4 heads on one A4 page, these looks rather small and it just makes things more difficult.
Hahaha, hell yeah, the slayer waffles. Such things are so damn stupid but they're cool, too
Will try to get the raven better tomorrow.
Some research for good light and shadow stuff and maybe a better background etc.
That's one of the first pieces of work I don't have the feeling that it is my enemy. Like that thing and me are friends and working TOGETHER. Haha.
I know what you're saying about fighting with an image. it becomes a job. this one I'm working on right now is becoming a bit of a chore to render ...but at least its almost finished.
Glad to see you are so active and posting .. keep up the great work
Hey again Flo! I like the faces you have done in #165, theres something good going on there, you are getting better with constructing a face. Maybe keep looking at tutorials which show you how to contruct fromthe most basic shapes. thats something i need to work on myself right now, but its really important i think.
You still doing posemaniacs? Im trying to keep it up. Some days though i just come out with a pile of turds, it can be discouraging!!
No I haven't done too much posemaniacs in the last few days. Today I'm going to look for some books in the city.
And something really crazy I've found in the CA.org Wiki: a generator to generate new ideas if you don't have any more.
That thing rules so much.
A ancient flying prince with tattoos!
A bloody horse dinosaur summons a extremely green deity in Heaven!
If you work with light (#168 ) ( specially the still life ) it's probably better to use some B Pencils and make good transitions

Did a lot of anatomy or better said basic sketching and anatomy stuff.
Can't tell you why but I just took a look to some free videos of Vilppu and it was like I understood what I was doing for about a hundred more percent. I LOVE THIS GUY!
There is so much free stuff on youtube, and If I can find a cheap DVD or something, I think I'm going to buy it directly.
Best regards and thanks for visiting my SB,
Hehe. Nice to see that you're active, haven't seen you for some days Icy
Yeah definitely, I've seen the progress of lifedrawing, today was a pretty hard painter's day for me, I sat down for about 8 hours just sketching, research, reading and writing here. I wanna do that all day all my life. HAHA.
More stuff coming soon.
Does anybody know if there's the possibility to draw with ink (with brush or pen) without taking new ink every 20 seconds? I'm in a phase of trying everything out that comes in my way and I would like to draw with brushes and pens, just for quick sketches, maybe for studies, portraits, black and white stuff, thumbnails etc. The only refillable pens I've found where architects pens from Rotring for about 35 bucks each and that's a little to much. And what about black watercolour? Don't need the coloured ones this time, they can wait I think. First of all I need to practice and try every medium and possibility out for me and my progress.
