I'm looking to get to know many of you who post your work here as I am in need of art friends. Here are some things from my sketchbook over the last couple of weeks. I also like to use Corel Painter and Photoshop and here is some of my speed paints. Usually around 1hr or more.
Feel free to criticize, admire, hate or love the things you see. Sorry for some of the pictures as my camera ain't the best.
I'll post new stuff throughout the day and hopefully everyday...
in the end they are both beneficial, I can see what your saying about bridgman I enjoy drawing bridgman more his drawings seem to flow very well and I like hogarth for his exaggeration in anatomy so you easily understand the body. I find myself wanting to draw the other when I focus on one. so i decided to mix them up . i dont like them better than the other. by the way, nice anatomy on the last drawing
Continuing on with ideas for the demonlord before I put him in a comp. Right now I'm just working on general body shape. I think I'm gonna go long and muscular with a kind of Egyptian vibe. I like my thumbnails of the more classic superhero look but I just feel like I've seen that too much before.
Hi Spivak. I think you are on the right path. If you want to work on posing your characters then focus more on action. Don't bother yourself with details/head design. It's all about the form. Posemaniacs could help you here (www.posemaniacs.com).
Working on anatomy is a good thing too, keep it up!
Ivan- Thanks for that site link. It seems a pretty useful resource.
Ya I think now I'm going to focus on the action and forms more. I just wanted to have an idea as to the general appearance of this guy. Doing flat front and side views helps me in the beginning. Its like the first baby steps.
Hey Spivak, nice updates. I'm glad you're working more on anatomy. My only advice would be to put more attention to proportions when doing something from the imagination.
I tried to show you what I mean - green lines show how the body is distorted, and red as it should be.
Hope it helps!
Keep sharing new work.
Ivan- Great corrections man. Sometimes I get carried away in the spirit of the drawing and forget to pay attention to perspective and ovals in space. Its something I have to keep in mind more as I sketch.
