Project for Sept 15, 2010: lets do a vehicle. this can be anything you want, kind of. catch is it can't be a vehicle that already exists. it CAN however be a derivation of a vehicle that already exists. ie: if you want to draw a tank don't draw an m1 abrams. u can base it of off existing vehicles but make it your own. technology can be from any period, including those that haven't happened yet or never existed. vehicles can be powered by combustion, steam, clock work, magic, freaking fairy dust or good god damn intentions! lol. point is, i encourage you to go out on a limb with this one. final versions can be submitted as either concept art, technical drawings or a combination of the two. time frame will be september 15th. have fun!
Deadline will be 5 Apr 2011. I'm on it!
Wake up, Diarum!
Note To All:
Perma, Cygear, and Diarum:
Please check in to confirm your existence, log any objections to the assignment, and verify that we're all on the same page!
Bon Chance everyone!
Crap! This month only has 30 days.
Well. . . sometime between later this evening and the middle of tomorrow afternoon, I'll have my vehicle posted. . .
lol I didn't forget...for the most part!
I am not sure what I was going for with this... I saw tracks on a hummer and that started it lol. it's like a snow plow but for like rocks or something....
so it's like a snow plow + a Biscuit + ??? ^_^
I humbly submit this POS work that is already in my SB.
Recently, I signed on to a contractor gig in the telecommunications industry in Seattle that has had me working 60+ hour weeks. Thus, my Daily SB and the Penvirate projects (and my propensity to fight with potheads and Satanists in the Lounge) has been blown all to Hell!
Currently, the need to shore up my "day job" has put my artistic avocation on hiatus.
I will return,
I WILL RETURN!
Kamber, as always.
Anyway, hope that shit with the telecommunications industry gets blown over fast so that you can come back and party in the world of art.
Good job (I'm referring to your drawing, not that 60+ hour week hellish job)!
Nice sketchbook. I wish I drew plenty like you bro. I just saw your blog after you commented on my thread. Vilppu is definitely a legend.
I really enjoy that van concept. It shows ur progress from the beginning.

Interesting idea, btw! Reminds me of what we're doing in my school's final year project : the student submits an idea and then spends 5 months developing the concept and finished piece etc.
So Kamber, any particular theme for the piece? I was thinking it would be more fun if we can all decide on a specific topic / theme, so that at the end, we can see how each of us interpret the same theme.
Also, what are the requirements for the piece? As in, we must all produce a full digital painting at the end? Or can it be in traditional work etc.?
And the Penvirate is now the "Triumvirate" :
My goals with this are rather modest. I was thinking along the lines of a traditional "kitchen still life"-- bowl of fruit, bottle or two on a counter top, table etc.
Goal: a competent well composed, technically well executed "picture" that will stand "peer review" (and mod review) in Finally Finished.
Essentially, something that will be a real composed picture, not a "study" of a single element floating in a void.
Re materials, I'm thinking I want to do mine as an ink rendering 'cause that's what I'm trying to develop as of late. You, your digital stuff is way ahead of mine, so maybe you want to do it as a digital still life.
Diarum? will have to wait for him to weigh in.
Let's mull it over and say Jan. 31 starts the 90 day clock!
I'm thinking still life because it involves the skill of drawing from life, and fruit and bottles are easy to maintain for extended work.
90 days is low pressure. BUT, it also allows a couple or three failed studies that we can learn from.
Plus, it's probably easier to survive Finally Finished with objects than people!
But, nothing's set in stone yet.
Give us your ideas and will see what Xeon comes back with.
I'm happy with the idea of a still life. It's been a long time since I last drew still life and I wanna try it again. LOL Hopefully I still remember how to draw still lifes.
Also, for the medium, I personally would prefer traditional (the usual sepia color pencils for my case). It offers a kind of feeling digital painting can never provide. The medium of choice is up to your own preference.
Now, the thing is: what still life objects to do? I'm thinking of about 3 still life objects in the scene. Some ideas:
1) Fruits (apples, oranges, pears etc.)
3) Metal flask / jug / pitcher
4) Small clock
6) Small drapery
7) Bowls (porcelains etc.)
If anyone has additional suggestions, pls list them here and we can finalize everything before end Jan 2012.
For the duration, 90 days is about just right, IMO. You can slowly take the time to tweak the composition and re-do and re-do and re-render and re-render the piece again and again till it looks better.
