Hello all, I'm pretty new here. Thought I'd start a sketchbook and get some feedback, I'm ready to learn.
Here are some newer works...

hmm getting the hand of using under-painting to add interest...i have also been doing the coloring with a mouse as my wacom broke awhile back...actually feel like the mouse is easier on me....

It's good work, and the colours are nice, but the contrast is kind of muddy. In the last one, the neck is a bit on our right.
Thanks Mikhail, I am trying to work at my anatomy recently, so hopefully I won't make the same mistake again.
Here are a couple works I finished...I've been sketching and studying a lot...but I need painting help for sure.
some clouds practice...!

Hey, I was curious about your style, so I checked your SB. You have a good sense of color and I really like the mood of your pictures, especially the people. I maybe have some help for you, but I am curious if this is your "style" or do you have other goals. If you could emulate any artist's style, who would that be?
thanks for the question klaw...
my goals is just to push this and be better. honestly, i feel stuck and that my work is too flat and lacking in mass. i want my art to have that 'cool' factor that i feel is not there yet. i've started studying the bridgman books in hopes it will help my general knowledge of the body so i can do more dynamic poses and add some mass to my work.
my art is inspired a lot by the people on my da: http://phantasy.deviantart.com/favourites/
i've changed my mind a few times coloring style-wise: sometimes i do cell-shading, sometimes painted, sometimes it is more graphic and so on. but lately i want a very painterly style as u can see. as for my people i want something a little more realistic, but still very fantasy and sweet.
i want to know how to draw realistically just for general knowledge and if someone asks me to do it, i could. being able to do realism could only help doing the art/concepts i enjoy. i know for realism i need to draw from life and i've been trying to get into that more.
also i do want to do those cool environments but i don't know where to start to learn that. maybe i should keep copying them? any references to copy would be great.
any advice with all this would be great.

Left you a private message that addresses your questions: Hope it helps, because as I have already said, you have a very strong sense of style, and I think, natural talent. Just my opinion. In regards to the message I left you, I used to draw very similar to you, but my work has changed radically over time. I'm certainly not the best around, but I'm happy with my work (mostly). The book I recommended to you was the primary reason my art changed so much. If you look in the portfolio registry under Klaw's Lair, you can see where I'm at now. I have a SB thread too, and an Angel in the It's Finally Finished section too, but God knows I haven't figured out how to link any that stuff to my posts, so good luck finding them. Anyhow, I really do like the mood of your portrait work, so I look forward to seeing more. YA GOT TALENT! Keep Painting
You have a very healthy and mature outlook on improving your work. I wish we all thought like you!
You have a lot of really great images in here that I wouldn't have expected just from seeing your mermaid pic! The one near the bottom of the girl in the short skirt viewed from above is awesome. You have a good eye for experimentation, and that's what's really going to push your art into a whole new realm. Keep drawing! You really do have natural talent! Hone those anatomy skills you want and keep playing.
P.s. some of your pics you've colored by making little dots? SO HARD TO DO! I don't have the patience for that! But this girl does it too: http://pd-inc.deviantart.com/ and she gets such amazing textured results! Keep that up too! Haha.
thanks so much for the compliments!
yah that mermaid pic wasn't so good, think i'll scrap it for now. btw the dots was just clicking the mouse a bunch and changing brush sizes, as i don't have a tablet atm. it was a fun way to color.
Hi phantasy! Nice sketchbook you've got there. You wrote that you'd like your works to have a certain 'cool' factor. I think for that you should study clothes and expressions/faces. You could take a fancy fashion magazine and look out for cool patterns, styles, and practice drapery. Also, faces appeal to the viewer quite much, try letting your figure look at the viewer for a change. A face that looks alive is hard to draw, but I am sure you can do it. What I said are only proposels of course. You're going to improve anyway, just keep working
I'm curious for what's to come!
iphigen - thanks so much for the kind words and advice! will try to do some emotion and expression studies.
i've been sketching a lot for the last few weeks, like 2-3 pages daily. hope to get faster with that. here is a random sample, some are studies, some from my imagination. will upload more tomorrow. if anyone thinks one is good enough for me to fully color, let me know.
Good designs, i really like post # 3 it has a wonderful editorial feel.
i colored this one recently...
More works, critiques appreciated!
something a little recent, i feel like i am getting better but am kinda stuck on how to draw better right now .i wanna work on human form but I am finding it quite stressful and my imagination is kind of dried up too. I don't think I need a break...I just took one recently.
