First bit of advice, use a scanner. Digital photography is devilishly hard to get good results from for artwork, and I'd say not really worth the effort. Most schools and copy shops have them, and they're pretty cheap to buy.
As to the art itself, it's difficult to critique. The first is blurry and the second is on an angle, so it's not possible to accurately see proportion. I can say you need to study anatomy, since the proportions in the first piece seem off. The second one I think is better, but again, I can't really tell for sure. Both characters in the first one are about to fall over as well, you should be using plumb lines when constructing them to make sure their centre of balance makes sense.
"Skill is the result of trying again and again, applying our ability and proving our knowledge as we gain it. Let us get used to throwing away the unsuccessful effort and doing the job over. Let us consider obstacles as something to be expected in any endeavor; then they won't seem quite so insurmountable or so defeating." - Andrew Loomis
