It's been a while...new art dump

Hi everyone,

it's been a while since my last finished post, so I'm going to share a couple of pieces of what I have been working on in my spare time.

I've been working on my portfolio and decided to divide it into 3 sections. Contemporary, Historic/Fantasy and Sci-Fi

Here are a couple of the Contemporary pieces I've been working on. It's basically a mock-up game that me and a friend have been working on, based in Prague and featuring freestyle running and lot's of action.

I've used maya, photoshop and google earth for some of this pieces.

Lot's of fun to do, and still plenty more to do. But before going further I would love to hear what you guys think and if I could get some crits and comments I would gladly appreciate it.

On a final note, it's been 2 years since I moved out of Colombia and got into the gaming industry here in Canada. So far it's been a great experience and I wouldn't have made it possible without all the great people in this community and the encouraging words of Coro, Marko and Dan Milligan to keep drawing at the Montreal workshop. So thank you all!!

And just because I love you guys, here is a sneak peak into the Fantasy one:

Nice pictures. The girl is my favorite

"Zugzwang" is a german word, which means that someone is forced to do something. I dont know if that is inteded or pure random.

I really like the clean character designs at top. They are so clean but still have some soft edges. Good work.

zugzwang comes from chess if u ask me, its a situation when the player is forced to do a move in order to continue playing otherwise he gets his ass whooped by the opponent,
hm... totally of topic... back to the paintings, very inspiring top works! awesome rendering.

beautiful work. I like your charactor designs most-I think that's what you're strongest at. Really like the Fantasty one too. AT 2nd look at the Fantasy dude-I like the pose but the twist may be too extream? or perhaps if you moved his feet apart slightly it would help sell the pose more - giving him a more stable grounded feel- right now with the twist, the feet so close together, I feel like I could very easily tip him over? jmo-hope it helps.
Best

Thanks a lot everybody for your kind words and for checking my thread!!

Vaejoun: Hallo, vielen dank für deine Kommentare über meine Bilder, dass gefreut mich sehr zu hören. Like "Victor S" said I'm using the chess term of the word"Zugzwang". I'm a big fan of chess and if you look at the characters inside the Prague map on their descriptions, there is a chess piece that will correspond to the characters position on board. In a similar manner the story will put our main character in a zugzwang position and from there the story will continue to unfold.

smokenmirrors: Hehehe Awesome!! Many thanks.

johnsmithson: Welcome John to the forums!! Glad you liked my images. Thanks a lot for your comment. Hopefully we will see you posting some art soon as well!!

Hai: Thanks dude!!

Undeadartist: Hey man thanks for dropping by!! Hmmm as far as advice for photoshop goes. I would say check out all the tutorials and books out there, there are a lot on the internet. Some are free, some you have to pay but some are well worth it. I love tutorials, but the key thing with them is to study them and learn from them and then to practice, practice practice. I checked out your sketchbook, pretty cool. Keep those anatomy studies, work on your foundations first and then rest will follow with lots of practice and fun.

samrkennedy: Thanks a lot man!! Glad you liked them!!

Majora: Thanks, np. I added you on CGHub

keppe: Thanks a lot!! I look forward to seeing you paintings in the future!!

Darkside: Thanks!! A friend of mine told me many years ago that a good presentation will always help

Victor S.: Thanks man. Yup you nailed it. I'm using the chess term for Zugzwang. I'm a big chess fan! Thanks for dropping by!

steven6: Thank you for your kind words. I appreciate the comment!! I'm always struggling with planting the feet correctly. It's one of my areas of weakness. Glad you pointed it out though, I will continue to work on improving that part of my drawings!! Thanks again!
