Thanks for posting a close-up of the caveman's face. When I looked at the full-sized image, I assumed all of the features of the face (particularly the bridge of the nose and the cheek) were blurred together. Looking at it now I can see the highlights standing out much more clearly.
The way you color really makes his garb look fluffy. The lighting on the upper torso is really nice, too. But his lower half looks a little too dark to me. Is the light source pointing upward, or downward?
Sorry if they're lame critiques. I'm just now getting into critiquing again so I'm kind of learning as I go. If what I'm saying isn't hitting right or doesn't make sense please tell me. xD I won't mind.
Nice work man! I guess you could apply the same render though out the piece, I think that will be great. And maybe some more dramatic lighting (or more intensity in there).
Whooooo! Another guy following the Chiu stream! Theyre amazing!!!!!!! But alas I'll need to be up at 5am to catch them live
teowli; cheers man. i know what you mean about the dark legs, but i was aiming to have the upper part stand out and have the rest receding kinda into the background. could still use more work though! the light source is supposed to be upper left
bendragon; thanks! yes the chiu stream is awesome. but being in england sucks! i missed it live last night. i made it to 3am but i was so tired and worn out it felt like i wouldn't get much out of it, so i went to bed. but at least they're recorded.
ricardo, thank you. yeah, man, i'm really weak with colour. it's something i need to focus more on!
trying out a new buildup approach i read from this blog - http://adamscreation.blogspot.com/20...er-street.html
seems to make a huge difference. looking forward to playing around with it more because i messed a few things in this experiment. feels quite flat at the moment
looking good man! Totally digging your cartoony style. Keep it up!
nice work!, care more the anatomy
for this one example quite strange
that winnie the pooh with diabetes thing just made my day! sooo funny. you should do one with eeyore (sp?) the donkey trying to kill himself, hes too depressed. or tigger snootin some blow. ok sorry, did i take it too far? great work btw.
@towy: thankyou! yes indeed. im gonna do more bridgemen studies n stuff along with my random concepts
@nickybeats: haha awesome! i think elwell mentioned tigger having ADHD. ive thought about drawing up characters and even an animation but thats mostly been fluffy head thoughts, so who knows =D apparently that image has made it's way to 4ch =o
just a standard bridgeman study to show for today
Love your self portrait, it looks very traditional.
haha this is some great work man. i love it.
Hey dumpling - I've been hanging round this site for a while now, but just had to register so I could tell you that I just love the Santa Sack - made my day I really admire great cartoons for the painting skill as well as the humor - don't know how you think of them.
OMG the weenie the pooh drawing made me literally LOL!
