Continuation on The Oni for the current CHOW
Lennon: Hey hey! Thanks for coming around and those nice words. I'll try my best to keep this thread alive
CraneWife: Thanks man. It's tougher for me to keep just one style, inconsistent as i am But so glad you could appreciate that
it's the chin, yeah? I was trying not to get too absorbed with her face, it turns out, i'm not paying enough attention
here's the original: http://popdose.com/wp-content/upload...ir-288x300.jpg
Your sketches are really cool mate, you have to keep pushing the values. Think of planes and darken them or light them accordingly. Start with few key values [for example key a value for light one for halftone and one for shadow] and then bring the inbetweens. Keep up the good work!!! When the planes have subtle change in angles [soft graduation of form , soft curvy sufrace] make the gradation to be more soft and less jumpy in value.
Kingkostas: Yo mate! Thanks for your feedback man. About thinking in planes... I agree and I already did. I just haven't quite grasp it much. lol. I also tried my best to always work with key values (I read all your tutorials on your SB. REALLY MEGA HELPFUL! Big thanks ) So, it's the classic "practice! practice! practice!" for me.
I made a video. Just testing out, it's worth nothing but for show (a lame one at that ) but i thought i'd share it here anyway, maybe i can get feedback about how i work (crits, opinion, advise, etc.)
I'm making a slower version of this.
Recent works, some illustrations/graphic designs:
are and will be printed on tees. except that ridiculously green one, it's a poster The smoking ape is a collaboration with my friend (his idea and rough painting, i was only rendering and adding details)
Hey Witcrack, thanks for stopping by. I haven't been around on this site during the drama.
( I didn't even know anything happened until i started reading up on it last week).
And it just doesn't seem the same... I came back because I missed the old CA.org days. Doesn't look like they are coming back, haha!
I do miss sharing my minor studies like back then. Now when I'm done with a couple of sketches I can't be bothered to post them on this site anymore.
Anyway, it looks like your sketchbook didn't have tons of updates since then either... Guess we had similar experiences?
Just wanted to say that the updates look good, good to see your still active!
