Such amazing ideas!! O_O I'm just in awe of you guys! I voted for three of you, but I was sorely tempted to vote for you all. Each piece has something really lending to the challenge concept. I hope I'll be able to convey such an idea for a coming challenge!

Wow, badass! Even with Newborn contest overlapping the final month of the contest (eyes fellow procrastinators) people still managed very impressive entries!

So many lovely options. I limited myself to five based on how well I think they interpreted the theme and a couple just because they're beautiful pieces. Excellent entries all around.

Wow, is there any more of this awesomeness hiding in the girls section?!? Get it out, show it to everyone. Gaaah, I wanna have access...

Limited my votes to 1, 5, 6 and 17... Although the poll is anonymous, some of the painters are pretty obvious, style wise...

Brilliant work! Voted before 19 went up though. There's a lot of symbolism here rather than out and out visceral fireworks, which is great!

Organize one. Jessi doesn't have special status within the CA hierarchy, she's just a regular user like you and me who worked her tail off to make this happen.

Awesome work, ladies! I'll definitely be joining you next year.

I went crazy with the check marks at first, because they're all so good, but evenutually got it down to three that I just couldn't decide between...

So 1, 5, and 16 - you gals all take the laurel

Oh hello, nowhere in my post did I discredit any organizational skills of Jessi, I know her and she's amazing

I'm just saying ... ha and this isn't the only girl-only contest that has been held. Nothing against it by any means

It'd be cool to be like "awwww....look at you men, doin' ur thang, good work"

Sick entry #1 btw

1. I don't really recall that well the piggies tale, so maybe I'll be missing something in my critique that other people more knowledgeable about the fairy-tale can see.
I found the picture very well done, the poses are very nice, i love the almost symbolic wolf on the window and the kitty is always a nice touch. Rendering is top notch too, I only felt that some spots felt a little bit rushed (The black spots on the left pig, the shadow-texture on the walls)... A little polishing and this piece will probably stand out a little more.
My main complaint about this piece is that I really don't get exactly whats going on. I know that the wolf is coming to eat the piggies, but the pig on the left make it looks like "he don't know the wolf is there", the crouching piggy looks like he knows the wolf is there and is scared and the pig on the right looks surprised to see the pig, and I don't know why he has a paper-bag on his hand (maybe something on the original fairy tale that I dont recall).
Anyway, good piece!

2. I took a short while to understand the idea of the picture, its a good idea. My only complain is about the execution being in black and white and a little rough, it ends up looking not on the same level as the others. Its a good piece on its own, anyway .

3. This piece would rank a bit more on my opinion if it didn't looked so "vectorized", the straight lines on some parts look strange. Its not a bad piece by any means! It's just a kind of art that I'm not big fan of.

4. Very very very nice anatomy, looks great and flows really well. I love the oldschool christ like pose, and the hands look cool. But the idea is a little bit cliche for me, and I feel the rendering is a little bit rushed if you compare to the other pieces here. Anyway, great knowledge of anatomy

5. Great drawing, it has a very nice animeish feeling to it, reminds me of Akira. The rendering and drawing is top notch, I only feel that the idea behind the piece is a little big too vague, this drawing could fit in endless themes. I would end up prefering a more direct approach to the theme.

6. It has a very puzzling face, it's drawings like this one that make me think about the "differences between boys and girls", I can't understand how you did it, but it puzzles me and get my attention. I would try to fix the left hand, cause its looking a little bit strange and sketchy. Other than that its a very nice piece, pushing the rendering a little more could make it very portfolio worthy

7. Again a piece that I can't get how "you came up with this!?", I'm again amazed, the expression on the male character face is very puzzling. the characters look like something out of Amano or Moebius head. The rendering seems a little bit rushed and somewhat confusing in some parts. More polishing and this piece could really stand out.

8. Great anatomy on the mom's body. But I feel that the faces ended up looking a little strange, the rendering is a little bit messy too. I would suggest redoing the piece, cause the idea while being a little cliche, still has a lot of impact... This piece reworked could really be something to stop and stare.

9. This piece gives me the impression that the individual characters were done separately and then merged with the background. By themselfs they look great, the girl and the litte creatures are well rendered. But the girl pose in the backgrounds seem very strange and the lighting on the creatures don't seem to be the same as the background. But i'm curious to see more from you .

10. This one makes me think about my very own pieces, made by someone who is still learning, pushing and trying to do the best with what was already learned. I'm there and I know how it feels!
The anatomy is good, some tweaks here and there and it will look pretty cool, the rendering seems to be suffering from some digital problems like dodge and burn tools, textured brushes that seem out of place and don't fit on the lineart... But its all part of our daily experimentation, and thats the way to go. Keep pushing it, hope you have a sketchbook so I can follow your progress!

11. I like the idea by itself, but the execution seens a little bit rushed and rough around the edges, a little more polishing in everything could really make this one work. I feel that you're somewhat on the "Middle", your anatomy, faces, rendering, composition and etc need a little more pushing for a piece like this. But its all about trying, so... Keep it up! Hope to see your improvements soon!

12. Very nice anatomy, and the idea is good too... A little bit cliche, but somewhat still apealing. But the rendering seems to be way behind your anatomy skills, maybe a more focused practice on painting could do wonders!

13. This is another piece that I feel the artist is in the "Middle", you can already draw what you want but it feels somewhat incomplete, your anatomy and rendering could use a little more work... It is already showing lots of potential, but these steps need to be taken so the piece will look really good and professional. The Snake tail has a real nice texture to it, good stuff... Hope to see your sketchbook or more from you in the next months!

14. This one shows some problems that I've noticed in lots of different artists that are using digital medium (me included!). The textured brushes kill the perception of depth since the closest and the farthest grass use the same texture, and the flare-like eyes seen out of place... The clouds are pretty cool, actually, and the piece has potential.
The beast and the humans could be improved a little, and the depth could be reworked, since its making the mountains look pretty small... Keep pushing!

15. A very nice twist on the theme, and a good piece overall. Good anatomy and nice diversity of creatures... I only felt that some parts were a little bit muddy and the lighting on the left shoulder is a little bit strange. But, great piece!

16. Nice rendering and the palette is somewhat unique, I like how it looks like it was done with delicacy and precision. But I can't understand what the human figure is doing, if its dancing, jumping, falling... While I can imagined its going to face the creature, the lact of clarity really get in the way of my enjoyment of the piece. Reworking the human could improve this one 120%!

17. This one is a real well done piece, the rendering is very attractive and the idea while being simple is effective, but I felt that the guys are looking very rushed, they don't fit with the rest of the picture, seeming out of place.
Good piece, anyway!!

18. While the rendering could use some more work, i absolutely love this picture. It grabbed my attention the moment I saw it and its hilarious, without any doubt a very nice jab on the dudes. More hair on the legs and it would be perfect!

19. This one looks like the most worked one, the rendering is pretty good and the colors are solid, the skin and fabric looks very nice... But the noses are very strange and misplaced, specially on the dudes below, it ends up grabbing my attention because since the piece looks so worked and polished, this simple "error" seems very out of place. A little bit of practice on faces could really do wonders to your art, that already looks very good.

Well, great pieces overall, best luck to all the ladies...
And as a man i'm in love with such great material. Hope my criticisms are useful and your pieces were inspiring!

Carbono, the pig on the left is not worried because he built the stone house and he knows the wolf won't be able to blow the house down.. he's the only one of the pigs that was a hard worker (the others built a house from stro and wood), it's also the morale of the story the paper bag of the other pig is probably because he's hyperventilating, breathing in a bag helps
