One of my latest digital painting, based on my black and white sketch in 2006. I also made a 3D version of it.
All painter work, hope you enjoy it.
Not bad work, although I can't claim to enjoy the sight of belligerent Germans.
The anatomy could be stronger in places, the hands don't really ring true. The head of the fallen one seems too small, given the perspective. The standing Nazi's face is a bit off, it looks a bit lopsided and he has no particular expression. His face would need to come forward a bit to fit his cap. Speaking of hats, the front of the other one's helmet should curve out and jut forward at a slightly sharper angle.
Interesting that you've put them in a trench, a type of warfare one more readily associates with the First World War. (I suppose there could have been episodes like this in WW II as well). I think the picture may need some darker tones, especially in the shadowed deeper parts of the dug-out, in the smoke and on the uniforms. The uniforms could do with a bit more dust, grime and general texture additionally. The outline of the gun on the ledge needs to be made a bit straighter.
The general atmosphere is good. The crouching figure is the strongest, and the ammunition and grenade are nicely rendered.
Jesus man, it's just a painting. Also, the average German soldier was just fighting for his country the same as everyone else involved... they weren't all belligerent Nazis.
As for the painting itself, I really like it and enjoy the loose style and washed out colors (almost Monet in the execution). Kinda looks like the trenches of Normandy.
I'm impressed at your skills in Painter - that program always seems really touchy and glitchy whenever I try to use it.
Do you have a site or anything? I'd really like to see more work from you. (EDIT: I just looked through your previous posts and found some more of your awesome work).
