i focus first at the tree.. i was wrong about the tree,, it should be in gold color like the story tells.. the tree was called "Piedras Platas".. i think i will first concentrate on the tree then next to the bird then to the bg.. please critique my progress.. thanks..





Who know's about the Philippine mythology of this bird?..
i am working for this for its book.. soon to be launch.. (still on the process)

hi kabayan,

glad to see someone doing Filipino mythical characters.
one thing i need to point out is that the whole thing looks flat.
Some areas ( like the tree) could use some more texture.

really nice piece^^

only critique i have is, watch out for colors and shading

grey shadows are not the best solution for shadows (like on his breast)

try it with adding some yellow in the shadows (really pale yellow and dark) and make the brush translucent, opposite colors often give a good effect on shadows^^
also it readds the yellow from the beak and his foots. (but it just a suggestion i couldnt say if that works always^^)


also you should add some orange tones in the shadows of his beak and foots, because its a bit too saturated yellow.


last thing:
he have white shiney light around his left side of body, maybe add some shiney things on the tips of the other wing too^^



but at all^^ i really like it^^ very colorful and it make me feel good when i look at it *g
