YihyoungLi Thank you! I took your advice.
OmertA Thank you! having a full human under-drawing helps me place parts better.
steven6 Thank you! Frustrations and failure kept me down and not posting for a few weeks...things just did not work for me.
Long time no post...Been very frustrated with Painter the past few weeks. I've been using Painter sparingly and using Photoshop a lot more than I used to. So here are a few PS sketch paintings. The helmet needs some more values pushed...especially on the upward plane on the visor. I also added some tracing paper over my tablet today...I like it but only time will tell if I keep it.
Du5k Thank you for your compliments.
Here are some more Photoshop sketches. I wish there was brush tracking in Photoshop like Painter.
Hey dude, always cool stuff you got going on. Id like do see your subject matter going a little more extreme though and bring some emotions in your people and tell a story.
Your faces are wonderful.
Kick @ss self-portrait and self caricature! I also like the knight from behind.
Samuel Gray - Thank you Samuel. And you are right. I need to put some of the practice to use on some final images that as you say tell a story. Thanks for the push.
Braintree - Thanks a ton!
Hocus Focus - Thank you!
Collywobbles - Thanks for inspiration and comments Collywobbles!
pixel cheetah - Thank you pixel cheetah!
I found this photo shoot of Brad Pitt in high res with some nice shadows, wrinkles, and poses. In my continuing fight to become more adept with Photoshop here is a value study...there's a tad of Painter in here too. A few new brushes came out of it including a stubble hair brush, and a couple of "Dual Brushes" which I never even bothered with before.
awesome value study, recognised him instantly. nice use of brushes.
and great work you have here all around, I'll be sure to check back!
Krato - Um...well not seriously long enough. I got serious about my art maybe 6 or 7 years ago and I've been painting digitally for about 4-5 years now. Thanks for browsing!
monotony - Thank you! I'll try to get back to posting at least once a week.
This is a painting I did in about 3 hours or so. Some experimentation especially on the palette. Started out multiplying a redish brown color over some quick values then I went down to "difference" and got that hot red under glow...so I kept it. I like how this sketch to painting came out. Started out in Photoshop but I did most of the work in Painter.

Holy asscrackers Batman!
This work is amazing! I can't wait to see more
Mind sharing the pics of Brad Pitt? haha. Maybe some proportions are strange and the nostril seems kinda hard around the edges, but the details and the value control is delicious. You've got a knack for making painterly pieces while expressing detail.
Your characters have really defined cheek bones and jaw muscles, but I think they're too hollow. The muscles from the nose to the corner of the lips (Levator labii superiosis & Caninus) could be more rounded and pronounced. A highlight on that area in the Blue Guy could change my reading from flat to rounded. Also, the temple region seems too rounded...or maybe that's hair?
The skull design is ingenious. He's like a badass evil lieutenant. Keep up the good work!
After being distracted with playing disc golf, I'm back where I am supposed to be. It's always something... Here's a revisit of an alien that I have on page one. Being able to revisit and painter over indefinitely has to be one of the best things about digital art. Photoshop CS3 on this.
I posted this first in the crits section to get some help. Followed some advice but here is the WIP still in progress.
Here is a comic book template that I posted in another thread. Yours just for stopping by.
Low res preview...download the high res in the attachment.
Awesome stuff here dude. Really cool rendering on that self caricature. And it looks like you understand how armor reflects the environment very well. Also impressed by the brad pitt painting.
(and.. if you ever decide to give warhammer a go let me know)
Krato - Here's a few more.
GeoD - Thanks a lot GeoD. The curved surface of reflective armor is very tough to make up. Thank you for being convinced .
Couple of updates. The zombie laying dead is a redux of an older sketch. The Bruce Lee is one that has gotten the most attention from my portfolio so I figured I'd put it here as well. Photoshop is starting to overwhelm Painter nowadays.
sandeepbarot - Thank you!
Just some hand sketches from the head.
Dude, I wanna be you when I grow up.
Brilliant work you've got here.
silvestri99 - I'm glad I can make you chuckle . Thank you.
007-r0b3r7 - Thank you 007!
Krato - Everytime I think of tennis I think of your avatar...I can never forget krato now . Thank you.
Moosh - Thank you Moosh...but please become "me" A LOT sooner than its taking me to become me. Stay focused and make it who you are and not only what you do in your spare time. Thank you for replying my friend.
