This is looking pretty good mate, your art does belong to the animation world!
Ccs- it's about 60% imagination 20% hybred - looking at stuff and making it more cartoony and fun- and 20% real life or studies and stuff.
That warrior is a bad step-child of my attempts to design in a flatter way >.< It's hard to go Iconic- but I am working on that direction for this project... definitely need to do more studies.
Alizak - thanks -It makes the commute worth doing. This contract has me on buses or the subway an hour each way . if it weren't for sketching- and the crossword in the free newspaper I don't know what I'd do!.
Rem92- Thanks -it's fun here. I love the animation world Today I animated dust at work! yay dust!
Sketchesssss - yay! Today I picked blue pen... I'm totally wild like that.
Did someone catch you sketching them? Awkward! Did they want to see the sketch?
Yeah, Alizak, she totally caught me. I was on the subway- she just came to look over my shoulder before she got off on her stop. She was about 45 so when I was caught I just left out anything that showed her age and she didn't comment. lol
I have had some people ask me questions- but only one person who got upset. He came over stomping to where me and my friend were sketching, grumbling, "I saw you guys drawing me" - Comically, we had gotten bored of life drawing - she was drawing noodle armed guys (her work) I was drawing a fencing duck. so he looked pretty foolish
Not that many sketches today- a little bit of red pen - because I'm working on this wip of a retro-future drive in- diner . I hope it turns out like it does in my head.
Ah too funny! I can't believe someone actually got angry about you drawing them - even though you weren't - what an ass!
Dude, I lorve your life sketches! What is this futuristic diner business? Tell me there will be updates!
Alizak - it was more funny then anything- most of the time I have no trouble
Thanks Saramel- I put another few hours in it- still a ways to go. If I get at it tomorow I'll post an update.
Here's ages of sketches I've been neglecting to scan
looked through your sketchbook and it's really awesome, I really like your style and keep up the good work
"Art is never finished, only abandoned." Leonardo Da Vinci
Thanks Blazingdimensions and Alex_eh
been pretty lax on the sketching and updates lately- still drawing lots at work but can't post any of that here.
Some subway junk:
Hey Rhubix, the diner piece looks nice.
However, the ref that you used for the car really shows a lot of reflection off a clear blue sky. So right now, even though your painting has a night sky, the car shows a clear midday overhead lighting.
Hope that helps. Keep the works coming.
Thanks Vritra, when I started the piece it was gonna be a day one- but it'll look way cooler as a night scene- working on those colour changes
sketch dump ~ I'm just lazy with my posting. not my drawing.
here's some post-its from work and a test of the girls in vectors.
Thanks Vritra- those characters are actually meant for a project- that's why I shined them up all shiny
I got a few notes on them and I have what I think are the final characters- and some sketches of one of their associates in progress.
Still slacking on the posts.
Assorted sketches from the bus / subway - render time post its- and background tests.
I love the expressions on your characters! Great stuff.
Betty86 & FireSong - Characters, especially expressions, are my favorite... does it show?? thanks for commenting.
Yochanan... ugh thanks
Not much today- my lovely and fantabulous husband drove me to work cut an hour out of sketching time.
& I'm still working on the cast for the web series me and some friends are working on -here's 2 potentials.
Hey, thanks for your kind comment and helpful critique!
I'm kind of in awe at the amount of sketches you pump out, it's incredible. Your faces of course are fantastic, they're so simple but they've got a great feeling of volume. I really like the last two characters from your last post, they've got a lot of personality and they juxtapose really nicely.
Oh my, the personality in your sketches is great! I absolutely love how animators always seem to have such smooth and flowing lines, makes everything so fresh
Lol, well I hope you'll post more soon, cause' this SB is really enjoyableI'm just lazy with my posting. not my drawing.
Success consists of going from failure to failure without loss of enthusiasm.
Don't aim for success if you want it; just do what you love and believe in, and it will come naturally.
Clur - Thanks for dropping by! I like your stuff quite a bit I'll be back for sure.
TheFallenAngel- Thanks! I think the fun lines is why I like cartooning so much. Why draw something realistic when you can exaggerate
Morningtea - Here's some more I'm glad you like it.
I've been sick with a cold for a while, so just the commuting sketches for this update.
I love your art style, do you have any artists who inspire/influence your work?
