[ Make a very small alien bug of some sort. ]
Sci-Fantasy TINY ALIEN BUG
I'll kick things off with the pic I made tonight that inspired the topic in the first place.
Freddy, sweet job. really like it
and W.B.Hand. lovely little bug

This is a nasty little guy. He's a parasite who makes his home in the intestines of birds.
eats the dirt under finger nails.
Denzo - Thanks mate! Love the colors on your little bloke.
Vijil - that's wicked! Really dig the colors and textures
Hmm,, on the second thought - that is one huge bug. To me.

I'm not entirely too happy with this one, but it was fun practice. Hope you guys have some advice for me!
William B. Hand that makes me incredibly happy haha. Great stuff!
Goran Fantastic detail, really awesome design.
I can chug anything you hand me - Sacagawea
I think bugs look pretty alien in general. Here's my play with sponges and pencils in corel! T'was fun.
William B hand, awesome! And now the thread got a thumbnail too, need for all future topics! :>
Freddy S Very cute, the thumbnail does not do it justice.
Denzo Screwy.I totally say it was worth it! But wow, the previous DSG entries has been made in 25mins?! Thats some mad speed right there.
Vijil Very sweet colours, at first I thought it was some sort of hair-infesting bug but then I saw leaves. Would love to see more of it, its hiding!
Crimbal Nice job on the bubbly spheres, be careful with the amount of highlights though. I like the green bg light catching the upper spheres.
Ashton a "handy" beast indeed. Has a nice metallic look to it, making it look like a manufactured manic(reat)ure
Goran Very awesome! Great details and surfaces. I really like the colour variety you got into this one. The background ground area has a nice Ultra-zoomed-in feel to it.
K z I like the idea of the suspended bug but it gets a bit hard to tell whats on top of what here, some more alterations in the values here would do well here
Pentagear Very cool. Nice attention to the details and joints of the creature but it seems to be missing one leg. A sweet way to display scale too :]
Looking forward to the colours
Capella A neat creature, very nice design and the wings work great. The legs gets a little confusing however, the very dark black works for the closest pair of legs but the backmost legs has the same amount of dark colour so they get sorta tangled in the view.
Brainbug Thats a brainbug alright I like the shape of the same creature in your avatar better for it, the one with the long tail makes the image go flat when its across the entire image like that, the smaller one looks better to me.
Copilotdork I like it! It has a distinctive bug-like look. Right now the back of it has some see-through issues though, I like the green from the background in there but I think if you were to turn the entire backplates into that orange and then using the same green only slightly on top of it for that reflectiony look. I especially like the head area of this one.
Stefefef Very nice palette, I like those muted colours and it surly gives a nice underwater effect. Well defined forms.
Sen holiday Lovley creature, I like that translucency. Gives the creature an almost slimy look!
hehe...Dear Edward B,
I love your bug!
Went with something slightly less organic with this one. Not terribly happy with it, but hey. ―\(°_o)/―
William - Sweet topic. I love your bug and its seemingly floating eyes. It's friggin' adorable. I think the underside of the leaf could use a tad more contrast to put it in the foreground with the bug.
Freddy - Cute. Reminds me of a kid's book illustration. Wish it had color.
Denzo - Love the concept and execution (go glowin' fire). I understand the screw is in there as a scale, but it looks like it's floatin', so it flattens the sketch. Also, I think the fire-bug should have a couple more legs so it looks more buggish.
Vijil - Awesome that you included more than one of the alien bugs in there. Texture is great, but I think it could use more contrast, in general.
Crimbal - Ew. Great effect, great atmosphere. Wish it had a little more definition, were a little less blurred.
Ashton - Underbelly and texture on the bug is lookin' awesome. Only thing is the thumb is on the same plane as the bug and should be a bit more in focus.
Goran - Lovin' the intricacies. My weak critique is that the front leg doesn't really seem perched--doesn't seem like it's holdin' any weight, I guess.
Kz - Friggin' adorable alien bug. I want one. Try workin' on the transparency of water. It's a real tough thing.
Pentagear - Nice sketch. As I've said, wish it were colored. I think it (the bug) should be shifted up slightly to make it look more like it was munchin' on that eraser.
Capella - I like the wings. Losin' form on the bottom of the mug--I think the best course of action would be to crop it off.
Brainbug - Nice design. Be careful with those brushes, though. It's easy to lean on them too much.
Copilot - Really nice style. The black parts remind me of calligraphy. I think the bug could use more highlights, and it feels a bit too much like it's floatin'.
Stef - Design and style are great. If you want it to look underwater, I'd either add more dark blues to the background, or else add murkiness (and then that way it can stay brownish).
Edward - All illusions of the cuteness of ladybugs has been diffused. Awesome design. Only critique I can come up with is that the style for the tentacle-legs doesn't quite seem to go with the rest of it. I think they could be a bit less defined at the ends? Perhaps. All I got.
Jthi - I like the translucency and slug-like-ness. I think the antennae could be more defined and, just as somethin' to think 'bout, the crack in the sidewalk should be a bit wider, compared to the penny.
Sprech - What's to be bothered by? The design is great. Lights could use more definition and the leaf could use more contrast, but all in all, great job, I say.
So i'm trying to get comfortable with my wee bamboo. The legs are terrible but I really wanted to keep this short
