Hello fellow artists, this is my first post on CA! I've just started with concept art, and after some training in photoshop I decided to join the forum to get some feedback on my stuff.
This picture took me several days to finish (i don't have very long working-sessions.... not yet), and it was made with photoshop elements. I guess I'll need to get the "real" PS, there might be a copy of version 7 lying around here somewhere, hmm...
need a LOT of traing, yes indeed. next thing in this thread will be studies of practically anything depictable. to the stock images section of deviant-art!

Okay, here's a little something that was supposed to be a speedpainting. As usual, took to much time. Stock from http://emeraldsugar-stock.deviantart.com/
oh yeah, wasn't sure if i should have written my name or the stock image guy's name on "copyright" in the attachement manager, but i guess mine since i painted...
Use much larger brushes to block in shapes. This will speed up your workflow and make it look a lot less scratchy.
Don't worry about the time it takes anyway. Speed comes with practice.
And hopefully doing art should allow for the feeling that time has ceased to be.
You have to slow down and go into much looong intense detail study and understanding before you should speed up.
Speed is meant for experienced strokes and for that you have to do alot of slow and studied copywork first, then with time find dynamic and a flavour for minnimalism and then comes the speed.
If you start with speed you will do nothing more than communicate a lack of experience and understanding for what you are looking at, really fast.
Here's my watch! Earlier work actually, didn't remember until now. I simply took it off and put it on my desk and paited it. Almost good, huh? I know the perspective is kind of crooked...
No comments on the king and queen? I'm not some kind of royalist if that's what you think. I just like the flamboyant aesthetics
