1st pose (Sexy with hammer behind back)
2nd pose (quickly sketched perkier pose)
neither of these two (explain)
I am working on my first digital painting, its of The Joker (Heath Ledger) and Harley Quinn (my own design of the DC comics character). Im not used to creating my own characters and designs, so i need your help with Harley.
First and foremost, heres the work in progress (with the Joker at least):
here is my initial pose and costume design that i made for Harley (thats make up on her face, smeared like the Joker...im trying to make her realistic and less comic book-like, just like Heath Ledgers Joker):
and a quick color scheme:
So i started painting the pose, but i dont know if i like it...so i sketched another quick pose:
I dont know which i like better.
Thats where you come in. I need help deciding which is a better pose for the painting. Please tell me which you like and why, or if you have any ideas for a different pose other than these two.
Also appreciated would be your best critique on the Joker so far and Harleys costume design (because I dont know how much i like it). Please feel free to give ideas, critiques, comments, questions, anything. Absolutely anything will help, im new at this. Like i said, this is my first digital painting.
Also, if you could lead me to a good digital painting step-by-step tutorial kinda thing, ill be able to see how other people do it, it would help alot.
Thanks for looking, and thanks for your help.
the first one has a much better bodystructure, the second one has very bad hips
but for Harlequinn the more playful second pose is much better, especially if you choose the right facial expression
I think the best way to see what works, is to quickly render the 2nd pose up to the level of the first one. That way it will be easier for you to decide which one suits the costume/character best.
Oh, I don't know if I said before but the proportions on the 1st Quinn sketch are spot on
