Hi, this is my first time posting on conceptart, I'm mostly a 2d animator, but I also enjoy illustration and painting from time to time. This is a possible cover for an artbook I'm doing whith my friends. Thanks for looking!
the background does seem to have less effort put into it in comparison with the characters??? love the composition and colour though. keep it up. xx
Thanks, I wanted the background like that to make sure people didn't get distracted from the title and the characters, but you might be right, I'll try something.
Maybe just darkening or desaturating it a bit, it's color is so strong that all my attention is lead to the empty top part of the drawing.
Yeah, you went a little backwards with your focal points. The background gradient moves from darker at the character level to a vivid, very saturated orange directly under a bright blue title. Drawing attention with the title is basically a given due to the nature of book design, but drawing attention away from your characters at the same time can have a negative effect on the presentation. If you reverse that gradient so it gets brighter down at the table level, I think it'd be a lot stronger. You'd still have that sweet warm/cool contrast because of the gooey blob there on the table.
Anyway, good stuff in general. I have no idea what is going on, but I dig it ;p
