Could you post a bigger image? It is hard to really see them enough to crit.
I like the concept, but think you need to change more than just the shoulder pad.

I'm liking the chest area of the armor. The legs feel very plain though.
The boots look a little too 'space-boot'ish. They also look too loose at the top.
For the varying shoulder piece, you don't want to go overkill. Should you decide to choose the blood armor, instead of showing the head and heck of some demon, why not just the face alone (this will keep in massively daunting, but minimize the protrusion).
And remember, good armor has lots of bells and whistles. Great armor has functionality (and mobility) as priorities.
NightmareGK13: hehe Gl with quitting, if its anything like wow i wish you the best of luck hehe. And yeah, bloods my fav spec in game, gotta lvl 73 blood DK.
Havoc-DM: Thanks man, some great advise, the legs, aint added any armor on em atall yet, well except for the knees, and good point on the boots, looks more starcraft than warcraft =P
That's a brill idea, I'l go wip up a revised shoulder now. Thanks again mate, great advise =D
I really dont get the Unholy shoulder piece, looks like someone is throwing up inside his armor and it´s pouring out of his shoulderpiece. Right now the frost looks the most appealing to me as it is the one piece that gives out that it´s a frost armor.
Is the bloodshoulder eating an animal? Are you going to give the other parts any like "Frost characteristics" ? Keep on working on it! looking forward to your updates.
I agree about the unholy shoulder piece that it needs more in the way of describable mass. It is really nondescript.
you've got an interesting start. You have a foundation armor design and a motif for each armor set. You just have to echo that motif through the whole armor set rather than just the shoulder pads. For example, the blood set could incorporate some demon faces in other places as well. Such as the knee pads or chest plate. The same goes for the other two themes, and yeah Im not really sure whats going on with the unholy shoulder either.
honestly, and I mean HONESTLY:
A wonderful thing to do with concept design (such as for your portfolio where nothing exists and you have no real assignments because you haven't yet worked professionally-- or something like that) is to write out your story. Not too in depth or anything, but everything on the character will start making more sense, you'll be thinking more, etc. etc. At least.... that was advised to me and it helped me a lot.
Good luck quitting.
The silhouette of the pose reads well, but the concept itself needs more defining. I feel the legs and arms need more definition between the joints. Is the right arm foreshortened or is it a short arm mutation? I also wouldn't settle with this pose, I feel you could do more variations. It would give you more practice and you could use different poses instead of every pose being the same.
As far as armor designs, gather reference, from life and from other artist that you admire. Look at everything for inspiration, not just the obvious. You'd be surprised what you might come up with. Take time to look through art that you might have downloaded and your reference material. really analyze it and ask yourself what makes it successful, vs other designs that aren't in your opinion. keep up the good work.
