You have a beautiful son, and it must be a total joy to paint
or draw him. Values. I think that you should focus on that more at
this stage. It's nice to have goals like the EOW, POW and the others,
but I really think that you should implement some basic value training
inbetween. A simple ball shape material, try to render it under one or
two light source. Try to render it only greyscale. You did a good job on
this submarine creature, I like how you did the transparency effect on him,
the visible intestines, and the whole color choice is very nice. However, the
down side is his body structure, and the real 3D feeling, it is not really
convincing. That's why you should do small thumbnailing and pose sketches
before going into the final big render. Again, a good practice would be
to take the body of this creature and try to render out black and whie,
with one light source. At the current moment we have a feeling that the
creature is glowing from inside, but still we are not sure, there is no definite
light source. Think in greyscale for now, think in values and think in contrasts.
You have nice ideas, but you will have to realize them in an even more purer
and nicer fashion.
The comic book is nice, you should do more of those, with more details,
and with more carefully designed planned lines.
Overall I am very satisfied when I come here, cause I see that you
are a relatively hard worker, and improvements are always visible.
Thank you for visiting my sketchbook on a regular basis, you are
a kind person. Best regards to you and your family.
