With all my so-called 'finished' works I never had the guts to create a thread here.
So let's start with a jazz poster I had to do for my highschool jazz band. W/ and w/out text.
Comments and critiques always welcome Thank you!
The illustration itself is pretty damn nice. Let me give you a few crits on the type, though...
First, the font you used (or did you hand draw it?) which curves around the circle, is hard to read, particularly the word Winterfest. You can get away with thin strokes, or crazy serifs, or having it sideways, but all three overloads it. Pick something a little more legible. Second, with all the information text, pick one font and stick to it. As it is now, it looks kind of random and thrown together. Third, I think the text comes too close to the top of the circle. It looks like its crowding the edge and the title. Nudge it down a little.
Other than that, top notch job!
Hi there, I saw this as a WIP in your sketchbook, turned out nicely.
And the crits: the dude's arm is small in proportion to his body and is also placed lower than where his shoulder should be. That's why he looks kinda like a hunchback. The left hand needs work: thumb's too long and his fingers look flat. The 'fusion' of the lips to the face should be more gradient-ey, without that harsh contour. The text on the circle shouldn't be so condensed, try adding a little space between the letters.
Hope I could help with this
Keep up the great work
PS: thanks for the sb comment
Here are a few guidelines, I hope you don't mind
I just noticed the jawline needs work, oh, and the hand
I would say that it is nicely done, I like it as far as a poster goes, but I agree about the hands and the arms feel a bit short.
The hair especially looks really flat.
yes I do.
the best painter hair tutorial I have ever seen.
