No advice at all? or just posted in the wrong place?
I saw some books with people posing in them, no techniques explained though. I tried to look on amazon and saw quiet a few but not sure how serious to take the ratings.
any one got any of these?
Drawing the Living Figure (Paperback) by Joseph Sheppard
Henry Yan's Figure Drawing Techniques and Tips (Paperback) by Henry Yan
Dynamic Figure Drawing (Practical Art Books) (Paperback) by Burne Hogarth
Drawing People (Hardcover) by Barbara Bradley
The Figure (Paperback) by Walt Reed
Life Drawing: A Journey to Self-Expression (Paperback) by Bridget Woods
From the books you've listed, I own Yan's and Bradley's. I highly recommend both. Bradley's especially will be useful when learning to draw the clothed figure (a subject which I discovered is difficult to find good instruction on). As for Henry Yan, I have the privilege of studying under him in AAU, and his book is well worth it. The editing isn't perfect, but his explanations are clear enough and the images inspiring. He makes his figure drawings so much more than just studies; each one is a work of art.
Hogarth - I've never been a big fan of his work, but many others endorse him, so I would recommend at least checking out his stuff at a library to see if you find it to your liking.
